    • I question if UNC would really jump into the playoffs if they win.

      • Yes, big jump of all 1-loss teams, again if beat Clemson.

        • NC will be #7 or so. Beat Clemson, top 4.

          • I'll bet you right now Stanford is in ahead of UNC if they both win. UNC's resume blows, Clemson win or not.

            • UNC is probably about right where Stanford is but the unlikely UNC win over #1 Clemson puts them in top 4.

              • Ok, beer or whatever. Name it.

                • I think even OSU would get in over UNC. UNC is a loooooong shot, win or not.

                  • Bama and Clemson lose this upcoming weekend. What is your top 6?

                    Comment

                    • IMO:
                      1. Oklahoma
                      2. Iowa/MSU
                      3. Stanford
                      4. Florida
                      5. Clemson
                      6. OSU

But that would be chaotic and I don't think Florida has a sliver of hope vs Bama.

                      • 2 loss Stanford above 2 loss Bama?

                        Comment

                        • With a conference title under their belt, yes. But again, not interested in lengthy discussions of the .1% chance Florida has of beating Bama...all moot. Bama will be in.

                          • Once again, like last session there are 6 worthy teams.

They need to expand the playoff to 6 teams.

3vs6 and 4vs5 a week before New Year Eve. Tie it into a lessor Bowl

                            • The problem they'll run into is when sorting out deserving conference champions. Last year they were able to skate by with the "co-champs" and no championship game in the B12. But sooner or later the B12 will get an undefeated team home. And then they may have to sort out CCG winners with the same number of losses. That's going to be a huge issue. If, e.g., OU was undefeated along with Clemson, and Stanford had 1 loss ... who goes b/t Bama, MSU and Stanford -- if they all win CCG and finish 12-1?

This year it works out perfectly. The only possible fly in the ointment is if Florida somehow beats Alabama. But that's only a possibility in the theoretical realm.

I think OSU is one of the 6 best teams, but man, they were awful against MSU. If they had a played a better schedule and had 2 or 3 more quality wins, ok...maybe...but not this season...they shit the bed.

Next season with games at Oklahoma, Wisconsin, Michigan State and Penn State...and, of course, M at home...they can easily lose 1 and still make the CFP. Hell, if they had actually lost to IU but beat MSU, they'd be in a great position b/c they could beat Iowa and get in.

Can't lose those "quality" win opportunities AND you have to win your conference.

                              • ^^^^^

                                Simple, straight forward.

I have the following comments after consuming large quantities of food and alcohol yesterday evening starting at about 3p.

From what we saw yesterday, osu > Bama/OU (hard to separate) >>>> any others with a shot.

I feel bad (for about 2 seconds - heh) that osu is a huge long shot and "in the theoretical realm" to make the play-offs. Like I said, when big rewards are on the table, osu is good. I think they'd roll in the CFP just like they did in 2014.

But talent is right, they shit the bed v. MSU and won't be BIG Champ because of it. Fair. Therefore, one of two BIG teams not better than any of the top 6 will represent the BIG in the CFB ....... getting blown out (OK, I'll admit that MSU could hold serve) in the process and starting the stupid dialogue over how bad the BIG is.

Iowa may be a good team but who, I ask WHO, have they played warranting that they represent the BIG as Champions.
Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.
