  • M loses Molk, Hemingway, Koger, Huyge, Martin, Van Bergen, Woolfolk among starters...

Molk and Koger are big losses to run blocking, Hemingway has been the teams best receiver, Huyge is replaceable but will certainly hurt depth. Schofield might not be as good as a pass blocker, Huyge & Molk certainly hurt loss in depth on OL... Hemingway is a big loss but can be overcome with Stonum returning and progression of the other young receivers....

Martin & Van Bergen are huge, huge losses, both are All B10 talents and more importantly, there appears to be little ready to take their place. Backup at DT currently is Heininger who graduates too. Behind them are William Campbell (jr) and Quinton Washington (so); guys not yet ready for B10 football... Only other loss on defense is Woolfolk who is replaceable, probably by Thomas Gordon or Marvin Robinson.

    • The Hemmingway loss would worry me more if we actually targeted him more than a few times a game. We don't use his jump ball capabiliites enough. Since we don't throw the ball effectively unless we throw it less than 20 times in a game, I don't see departure of senior receivers as being significant.

Molk's departure is going to hurt badly. Koger -- eh.

Martin's loss will hurt a lot too. Van Bergen might be replaceable since we have recruited defensive end pretty well. I'm holding out a little bit of hope that between our five Big Ten caliber athletes (Rock, Wilkins, Ash, Campbell, Washington), we'll find a couple of DT's that will be at least competent.

      • Given the level of defensive improvement from last year to this year, I don't worry about the graduation losses too much. The young guys will have a year under their belts with a REAL D-coordinator and a REAL defensive scheme. I don't see Mattison or Hoke allowing any letdown.

A team that needs to be concerned with graduation is Alabama. Hell, half their team is jumping to the NFL after this season. Which is good for UM I might add.

        • 9-6... that is UNL's record since Nov 19th, 2010... which includes blow out losses to Michigan, Wisky and Washington... games where UNL wasn't only not crisp, but lacked effort and was pushed around.

Last 5 years, UNL has lost to an unranked team at home.. EACH year.

Last 3 years, UNL's offense has declined in yards per game and points per game in the first half compared to the second half of the season.

          • Nebraska has not won a conference title in 12 years. The last title drought of at least this length was a 22 year drought between Big 8 conference titles in 1940 and 1963. And that was the worst 22 years in the programs history.

                              • It is never good for a program to circle the wagons, especially against the fans. Bo has done this now 2 years in a row. I don't think that brings you long term success... nor does it inspire. Playing for trivial things gets you trivial results.
