UCF HC Scott Frost was asked directly again to confirm he will be back in 2018 in Orlando: "All I want to talk about is this football team, I've said that multiple times. These guys have done everything I have asked of them and my focus is on this football team."
Grammar... The difference between feeling your nuts and feeling you're nuts.
They should have fired Riley at least a few weeks ago when it became apparent that the team had quit on him. The fans deserve a team that shows up.
Concur. As I?ve told ent, what angered me the most was the ?Grin and bear it? attitude that Mike infected the program with. Its bad enough that your product is historically bad, but to do absolutely nothing to change course while opponent after opponent is prancing on your guts is inexcusable.
The last straw for me was when Bob Diaco was not fired before the Minnesota game, following a week in which he had berated his players in both public and private, and generally acted in a thoroughly unprofessional manner. It wouldn?t have drastically altered the course of the season...but it would have shown people- primarily the players- that he cared. Instead he demonstrated the opposite. At that point I wasn?t even the least bit sorry to see him go, Nice Guy or otherwise.
The most damning part in that story is where the author asserts this, "Nebraska's lineman, with a few exceptions, are not Big Ten strong." I know very little about what goes on there but that is crazy. To me the winning formula has a few must haves, big strong lineman and a stingy defense. Frost may be a home run hire but he will have to have those things.
So somebody got a photo of Moos and Riley having lunch at the training table yesterday, fueling speculation that Mike will be rehired in some type of administrative/recruiting capacity.
The whole thing is just weird...who hangs around like this after being fired? Why would we want anybody associated with the 2017 dumpster fire in an advisory position of any kind? Even as a recruiting advisor he would leave much to be desired IMO; despite all the supposed acumen of his recruiting staff, we are dreadfully short of talent and bodies in many positions. We handed out 8 scholies to walkons last year.
Politely usher the man out the door, and lets get to work on the new regime.
Yeah, that's sad. Reflects an unwillingness to change the existing, and according to more informed sources who know a lot more about this than I do, dysfunctional culture within the Neb football program.
It's hard though in blue blood programs who like Trump that want to bring back jobs in the coal industry, don't see or if they do don't understand the massive changes taking place in CFB.
I think at M, Jim Hackett, the guy that made the Harbugh deal happen, clearly understood this and, if anything, Harbaugh has changed the culture, modernized it although he has his detractors. Not sure Neb's AD has that kind of understanding. If I were Frost, I'm not sure I want the fired coach looking over my shoulder. That serves no useful purpose.
Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.
