Been reading recently on what NU is doing offensively this year...meshing some Coryell/WCO passing staples with RPO concepts, like this Y Stick/Lead Draw that clinched the Oregon game:




The idea is to key one specific defender, read his reaction, and act accordingly.
So far it seems to be working, as Tommy Armstrong has scored 11 TDs with only 1 INT. NW presents a new challenge tomorrow.

Another: Y Slant Z Bubble. Here Tommy is reading the Nickel safety to determine the throw to No. 1 or an IZ handoff.



The snap is low, but Tommy reads the crashing Nickel and immediately checks to Alonzo Moore running the slant. Whether he checks further to the Bubble if the CB runs with Alonzo...we?ll find out later.

He's a better passer than he gets credit for IMO, insofar as the physics are concerned. He's deadly on the Corner and Post-type throws...the kind where you really have to push it. Going lateral, and crossing stuff, is hit and miss. Depends on his mechanics.
