This is funny...the line of thought du jour in these parts, which is spreading, is that the Big 12 needs to expand, but that expansion begins with wooing Nebraska back into the fold from the BIG. :p

and yes, there are thoughts Nebraska would leave the BIG for the 12 now.. that somehow "we" are not happy in the BIG because football isn't winning championships. Sorry.. that has more to do with UNL than the league, imo. Leagues get stronger and they get weaker. Prior to OSU winning it all, the BIG was weak. Now everyone thinks it is getting stronger. Coaches and players change and hence so do leagues.

I can't imagine Nebraska joining the texas league again. The BIG12 is desperate and their options are BYU (good, but problems with travel and no sunday competitions) and then big step downs in Cincy, UNLV, Memphis, or another Texas school. I even heard NDS could move up a division and join.. lol

From an outsiders viewpoint, I never thought Nebraska would be a team to leave the that conference, but now that they did it doesn't seem likely they'd move back. Nebraska has turned out to be a good fit.

if you go back to my orginal comments.. even if UNL doesn't win again in sports, moving to the BIG will benefit the school. All the focus was on the BIG TV deal and what it would mean to athletics. But the real money was on the academic side...

Can't see the Huskers leaving the Big Ten for less money and having to share a conference with Texas again.

From the way you guys sound, Husker fans were happy to be leaving the conference if for no other reason than to be free of the Texas influence.

I don't think we get the full BTN cut until next year, but until that point the BIG is at least matching the Big 12's distribution IIRC. What we're getting out of the ABC contract, IDK, but I imagine we'll be a full partner for sure when the new contract is drawn up next year as well.

2016 is going to be very profitable. We can sit back and drink the good stuff while the Big 12 squirms and wrings its collective hands over realignment...again.

Huskers should be receiving all the tier 1-2 money that everyone else does but won't get BTN profits till they pay-in their share of start-up costs to the BTN...

BTN payouts are around $8mil a year and rising.

If memory serves me correctly.. they matched our pay in the BIG12 and have stair stepped the payment up each year since. I beleive Hoss is correct that we will have full $$$'s next year. How that was divided between ABC/BTN/etc.. I don't know.
