This is the best we can do with a make-believe staff, even after taking Bo Pelini off its back. We were crippled at LB as well, but that can happen when you only have six on scholarship to begin the year, and one of those is a former walkon.
The was a microcosm of the Pelini Era is a lot of ways, but first and foremost was to see the team play its most focused, intense football when it doesn't really matter.
I wouldn't be proud of that game. Giving up over 500 yard of offense makes you look like a RR team playing in a bowl. Hard to say that was a "focused" attempt. Should have gone for the kick to tie it up and play to win in overtime like PSU did. Instead just another bowl loss for the BIG.
If they never intended to kick the long FG at the end, than they needed to come up with better play calls on 3rd and 4th down. Should have ran on 3rd and 2.

you haven't watched much nebraska football... we've seen many games were effort and heart disappear..

agree. That's our OC. I've often said he out-thinks himself. 2 downs to get 3 yds. the read option was working.. use it.

nebraska hasn't stopped the run all year... name the game if you disagree..
as hoss said, very poor at LB and in this game two starters were out... the replacement played his first game.. EVER. There was a reason we sat in nickel most of the game.
Another thing I don't understand about this team is how the O disappears in Q2's.. and the defense only seems to play in Q1 and Q4..
not all the time, but seems like the norm.

and stan... I realize I wouldn't make those comments on heart and effort in the 90's... that is how far we've fallen.
another example:
Samuel McKewon @swmckewonOWH 42m42 minutes ago
Barney Cotton was again strong in post-game. Explained decisions and plays clearly and without "what do you care?" attitude.

I'm sure the staff and players would disagree, but I will go to my grave saying the team quit at Wisky..
and they quit on games every year. I'm not about NC's or bust. I just want teams and fans to circle nebraska as a tough game, teams feel like they were in a car wreck after playing nebraska (and in the old days, some coaches suggested nebraska cost them multiple losses with their physical play), games go to the wire and UNL wins their fair share.
there will be a blow out now and then, but avoid every year and have a few of your own. Get back a reputation that when UNL loses, they don't drop out of the top 25 cause people respect the program and know there is a quality team in Lincoln.
