Yeah, if Hoss believes it to be the case, it almost certainly is. He's probably the most knowledgeable Huskerz fan in existence...other than THE WIZARD.
Seems like Bo just needs some more time.Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?

Wisco pulled the backside OG and TE to get the numbers at the POA...and off to the races we go. That?s not a numbers issue however; we cannot line up two extra defenders on both sides on the off-chance that the offense might pull. That play needs to be beaten postsnap, and maybe it would have been if our 290lb ?anchor? DE hadn?t been stood up and washed out by a 245lb TE.
Another example; on Gordon?s first touchdown, where he hurdled Corey Cooper down the sideline. Nate Gerry is coming down from maybe 10 yards high, and once again was at the LOS when Gordon was. But Gordon bounced outside because Davie voided his gap. He?s not too far away.
On yet another long run, Mitchell flat-out whiffs on a potential TFL.
Generally speaking I agree with Aaron on this issue, but you cannot just make a blanket statement about playing 2-High without acknowledging some details. Does the QB present a threat to run? What is the formation/personnel? Are we showing one coverage look, but intending to morph into something else postsnap? There are times when its OK to be in 2-high.
I think his points about alignment/spacing at the LOS are more to blame this time than our coverage structure or numbers in the box. I?d also question what the assignments are from those alignments/spacings, because from a novice POV most problems appear to be a lot of gaps without LBs in them.

The players played hard, they just didn't play smart. Bo has them coached up, there's just a lack of execution.
I didn't see much of the game, but this one sort of begged for a Cover-0 approach, load the box, and dare Stave to beat you. Of course, if you're getting whipped at the LoS then there is no help once Gordon breaks through the first 5 yards -- but from what I saw, there wasn't much help anyway.
All of that is easier said than done. Wisky is a good running team.Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?

We typically don't get run on inside, via "pro" style power stuff; where we get trounced is on lateral gap-control, and interior runs which feed off of that threat. I think you can see it in how the players react to lateral runs vs interior ones...flat-footed, hesitant, absorbing blocks. Those players defending near the edges in particular; IMO they are unsure of their responsibilities when the gaps start to slide.
Wisconsin seems to expose this weakness better than anybody. Their running game is a bit unique.
