trying to decide on my score predictions for this game..

I'm thinking the D will play better than most expect (better than last year) and special teams will play well (last year were horrible in this game)... BUT... I can't shake this thought the O is all hype. UNL can't seem to run inbetween the tackles and if I was a D coordinator, I'd let Taylor pass on me all day... he'll make mistakes... I think the O will have 2-3 of them..

I'm thinking UCLA 25, UNL 28

It?s a conundrum...we cannot seem to run the ball from 1-back sets, but do well from the I formation. Unfortunately our passing game is built almost entirely on 1-back formations.

Could be trouble ahead.

I think the biggest cause of our running problems in the run back set is TE blocking. UNL really misses Cotton.

Really don't much like scheduling the Troy's of the world anymore. Get taken to wire--you're a bum. Win? Should've. No upside, lots of down. But when you need home games that's what you have to do.

And in 2018 we need 3 non-conference home games given that in even years, we play 5 road conference games.

Here's an updated schedule for as far out as we've scheduled games:

Now, all non-conference road games have been scheduled up through the 2026 seasons. The next one to be scheduled won't be until 2027, so I doubt we hear about that for a while.

I think we can do better, but that?s going to hinge on Pelini.

I cannot stress enough how different the defense looked and played last week when Bo cut the pattern-matching stuff out of the gameplan. Aggressive, active, high-energy...and fun. The kids were having fun, running around being athletes instead of analysts. We pressured the quarterback, and got four INTs. We had players in the box at the second level, and snuffed out runs.

That was Southern Miss, and UCLA is a different animal, but IMO the answers are the same. Whether Bo agrees...
