    • Sounds like Bob Diaco will be UNL's new DC.

Here is what the local media tweeted:

New #Huskers DC Bob Diaco had one defense from 2009-13 ranked worse than 44th in scoring D. 4 of Nebraska's last 5 ranked 50th or worse.

        • Many fans have been clamoring for a shift to the 34 (Mostly because we haven't done well in the 43 and they want a magic bullet, but whatev) so this will make them happy.

We haven't done much of anything to fill out personnel for the 43 we were going to run again in 2017, so I am not too concerned about transition pains. We're going to struggle athletically no matter what scheme we run. That said, Diaco will spin down an OLB for a de facto 40 front against heavier sets like The Nick does with his Jack linebacker. I suspect we'll do alot of that, lacking anything remotely approximating a true 0t.

          • Diaco will make $825,000 his first year, $875,000 the second year. He's the highest-paid assistant in Nebraska history.

For now, Diaco salary is 3rd in Big Ten assistants behind Michigan OC/DC. We'll see after the hiring cycle is done. Penn St. doesn't report.

                  That's well-established by now isn't it?

                  • read the Biggin's article on Lindsey's commitment.... Sounds like Keyshawn Johnson's decision to send his son to Lincoln and DeAnthony Thomas' experience at Oregon being a situational guy and what it meant in the league were big influencers for his flip.

                    • USC is now recruiting Lewis really hard.. and Lewis now sounds like he wants to stay closer to home.

Randall Grimes is 6'5" WR from Vegas. He's a current WR commit for USC, but it sounds like USC now wants Lewis more. Grimes, at least according to twitter, is in Lincoln this weekend.

                        • if I look at the 4 kids from Nebraska committed thus far (and I think they're done in the state)...

Austin Allen - 3 star TE. 6'8" 215 lbs. Good prospect from a small town that will need to add weight, but has a great frame. Solid commitment imo. Some suggest he'd be a 4 star in other parts of the country, I'm not sure... I think his need for more weight probably keeps him a 3 star. He doesn't have great speed either. That said, solid prospect that can develop.

Broc Brando - 3 star OG. 6'5" 285lbs. Broc is from Lincoln and transferred to IMG Academy this past year. I'll count him as local. Considering where he's playing today, the 3 star rating seems solid. Coaches like his fire and his attitude while playing, especially run blocking. Solid prospect.

Jaylin Bradley - 3 star RB 6'0" 180 lbs. I'm going to give him the under-rated tag. You'd think someone from the Omaha metro wouldn't have that label, but his grades kept a lot of people away, including the services. I think he's going to be a steal. We will see, but hudle film is impressive and he attended one nike camp in Kansas and was allegedly a stud.

Chris Walker - 2 star OT 6'6" 275lbs. So I listened to the "he was injured this year" "he has a nasty streak" "better than the experts think" .. He camped at UNL and was told we need to see more film. He was offered after other OT fell off the board. I'm not saying he's a reach, but I'm not sure his current skill level is equal to the other 3 above. He does have a good frame and if he has decent feet, can see playing time in the future. But I'd have a better confidence level IF he was offered earlier and/or he had more than a Wyoming offer. ALL that said, I still think UNL has to offer a local kid like this.. even a project with the right frame.

                          • I judge any NU recruiting class by whether it has a WR who can catch with his feet.
