He inherited, RRs defenders so it took awhile before we could really evaluate him fairly. His first full class (2012) was very deep but lacking in blue chippers, took till 2014 for most of these guys were ready to play in B1G, others till 2015 which was year 1 of Harbaugh. Dramatic improvement albeit expected from defense post Hoke. Some blame previous staff for slower than expected development from his players (offense and defense); certainly don't truth to that but when you only have 6 or 7 B1G ready players on each side of the ball your offense/defense isn't going to be as effective as hoped...
Tons of players who flashed potential previously really flourished in 2015, IMO expectedly and most give tons of credit to Harbaugh for getting the most out of them.

55 sons. Grilled meat.
I would bet the DL would be his strongest group. He was a DL, and a DL coach. Seemed to recruit better there than at other spots, and there's where unheralded guys would break through -- Glasgow, Henry, etc.
I would also bet that it's gonna be a disorganized mess at a few points.Last edited by hack; September 16, 2016, 09:02 AM.

Was he an aggressive defense guy? Crowd the LOS etc, or more of a conservative approach with selective blitzing?

Yeah -- just saying that the headset issue is an indicator of how hands-off he was. Though I still wonder who ordered the CBs right up to the line in his last offseason, during which they also put a guy who never played CB as the first-time position coach. One would like to think Mattison would not be capable of that sort of buffoonery.

The best DCs are guys that study the game. Make their defenses their own.
I would not call Brady Hoke a student of the game. If he tries to run the Oregon defense like he ran M's football team - delegate - it is going to be a fucking mess.Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.
