From all indications I've read, the Huskers are glad to be in the Big Ten. They've GOT to be making more money than they would be making from the Texas .. er.. Big 12 Conference..

A few people would like to go back... A small few. That doesn't mean the school or most want it.
If anything people miss some of the old rivalries and the short distance to away games. But that is very different from wanting to return to the Big12.

N certainly isn't the same program they used to be, it's real tough to be competitive at the highest level without access to good talent in your backyard. That's why Bama, Ohio State, Florida/Florida State, USC, Georgia & Texas have tremendous advantages over everyone else. Oklahoma is so close to Texas...
Notre Dame is really the only exception, Midwest has some good talent that they have as a base; talent in Illinois, Ohio, Michigan & Indiana. Michigan has better access to the talent in Michigan & Ohio than Notre Dame but doesn't quite recruit at their level nationally.
What Nebraska did under Pelini (8-4, 9-3) is what I expect out of them, luckily for them they have an awful division that should allow them to build their program back up and from there they might be able to better recruit nationally. Oregon maybe closest comparison for the Huskers. They have California to recruit but they pull in kids from all over thanks to Nike.
