Hey Nebrskans! I will be RVing across your state next week, with my brother, our wives, and five kids. We were gonna stop by Scottsbluff NM, but any other spots we could check out along the I80 corridor? Any recommendations much appreciated...

I'm not sure what you or your family would be interested in.. or how much time you want to spend where.. so I'll just throw out some thoughts..
- Omaha Zoo.. one of the best in the nation and it's right of I-80 as you enter Omaha from Iowa
- Strategic Air command and Aerospace Musuem in Ashland nebraska.. right off of I-80
- Chimeny Rock is great.. but its a little ways off I-80
Most of the places I think are interesting are northern and northwestern nebraska.. Wiz might have more ideas
FYI.. some other destinations, but I'm guessing you are passing through the state rather than exploring: http://visitnebraska.com/nice_trip/32Grammar... The difference between feeling your nuts and feeling you're nuts.

Lincoln is off of I80...stop in and see the 1997 National Championship trophy!

Seriously though, if you have some smaller kids the Morrill Hall museum on the NU campus (just east of the football stadium) is a neat stop. Excellent collection of fossils and displays...dinosaurs and extinct mammals of the area, plus native american exhibits. Its cheap and not real extensive as to take a long time, so you can make a lunch+ stop out of it. Preteens and over aren't going to be down for it though.

Well since you brought it up, I was wondering if you had any tips on that. It is encased in glass? Are there security cameras in the room? Is it washed regularly, or would scents tend to linger?
Thanks re the museum -- of course we do have some budding paleontologists in the family. Is the stadium open?
Oh yeah, I've heard that about the zoo. We're out for national parks and geographical features, really -- we're from the midwest, where all we've got are these friggin' lakes, right? I think I've seen you guys say before here that the northwest is pretty interesting, so I'm down for that. Hills and buttes and grasslands and badlands and all that. We may have time to hop up into SD. Not sure.Last edited by hack; September 22, 2015, 02:04 PM.

Pretty sure that stadium tours have to be arranged in advance, but entropy would know.
Lake McConaughy Reservoir is pretty much right off of I80, if you're into that sort of thing. Largest lake in the state. Last I heard it'd been completely refilled after some drought years.

``That sorta thing?'' You mean, like the sort of thing OP is into?
That looks nice. Good candidate for Night 2. We are meeting up in Toledo, and will probably hit the road noonish. So I figure we're into Iowa after Day 1, and well into Nebraska for Day 2. Lincoln for lunch might work very well and then camp at Lake McConaghy.

You have to have arranged tours... Let me know and I can see if one can be arranged for you. No promises, but I can try...
If you stop in Lincoln, I'd try to do the facilities tours, Morrill Hall (my kids loved it and are 7 and 5) and eat at Lead Belly's. My HS friend owns it. Voted best place to eat by the BTN on their 2014 campus tour.
Also.. Check out the link I sent you. Has pictures too... The NW part of the state with the Sandhills, toadstool national park and chimney rock... Great to see. Chadron Nebraska and that area is really really nice. Natural forests, waterfalls and scenic valleys... Plus, you'd be right next to the badlands in SD

LOL @ hack's RV making it across the Mississippi without some need for police tape. I'm not sure which adult will crack, but I can't wait to watch it from a helicopter camera on CNN!Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?
Brady Hoke: You know.....not....good.
