    • I think the quesitons comes down to..

      1) You fired one 9 win coach a little over 10 yrs ago.. there was a backlash in the coaching community for it.. What would be the perception today? Would a coach feel like there is too much pressure to win at Nebraska? ..and yes, before BP was hired, research paid for by UNL had 2 glaring negatives about the job.. recruiting and pressure (comments of 9 wins not being enough were part of the feed back).

      2) He was selected by TO. For many, that's good enough and we need to have faith. They will turn on the new coach like they did BC. How do you turn the story to "no choice"? Or do you continue down the path of a split fan base that we've had since solich was fired. Winning cures all, but it makes the job tougher for the new guy. (This is the nebraska guy vs best coach battle too)

      3) knowing this, who are the options to replace BP? If they are poor, you keep the path..

      • Hoss you sound exactly like me talking about the Michigan players and coaches. Makes sense I suppose since UNL looks just like a RichRod Michigan team. The only difference for us is the players didn't bitch and moan as much as they do now that Brady Hoke convinced them they are are god's gift to 5-win football teams.

        • That said, there are retards everywhere who stand up for the man, and cannot even explain why. Because, Bill Callahan I guess. Ent and I met one at the bar saturday.
That sort of maniacal and sub-moronic denial calls to mind The Wizard. I remember how Old Scribe, during the ever-so brief lucent intermissions to his rapidly onsetting senility, correctly diagnosed Cally's charade as a West Coast Folly. The Wizard ignored Old Scribe's prescience and continued to champion Cally until roughly the Great Jayhawk Assraping of Aught-Seven.

          Anywho, STAY THE COURSE!

And you point re local media is well-taken. Once they turn on you, it's written.
Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?
          Brady Hoke: You know.....not....good.

              • Bauserman sent me fuming out of Lincoln early in the 4th quarter utilizing every profanity known to me in a running dialogue with exactly no one on I-80. My wife was not particularly amused. Had I known that UFM would ride to the rescue, I could have appreciated the hugely comedic value of what has to rate as an all-time awful performance. At the time, however, it seemed that OSU was more or less doomed for years to come to that particular clownshow.

Money and salesmanship. First we're going to have to overpay for whomever we get...but that shouldn't be a major concern. Money we have, and we?re WAY overpaying as it is. So a large offer attracts ears, then the salesmanship begins.

My pitch: ?Have you watched us on TV??

Word is that TO has grown tired of Pelini, and has made it known among the BoS. Is it true? IDK. I do know that its been a long, long time since we?ve heard TO publically support for Pelini...

The options are plentiful...we could start with the list of coaches who haven?t given up 400 rushing yards to one guy for instance, and whittle it down from there.

Compare and contrast a redshirt frosh who hasn't played a down of competitive football in 2 years getting coached up by UFM and Herman.

                        • I still think you made a mistake. When Bauserman would complete a pass...it was a thing of beauty...I believe it happened in the middle of the third quarter in Lincoln...

Fitzgerald slew the mighty Badger. Western Illinois held Gordon largely in check. Seems like you have two prime candidates right out the gate!
