    Based on total defense ranking:

    1. Alabama - 14 points
    5. Sparty - 12 points
    6. Notre Dame - 6 points
    53. Illinois - 45 points
    72. Purdue - 44 points
    84. Air Force - 31 points

UMass isn't ranked in the NCAA statistics for FBS but, if they were, their D would fall into 108th.

Nebraska is ranked 43rd in total defense, but that is only because they are 18th in passing D. Their run D is 90th in the NCAA.

I think, barring multiple turnovers, Michigan scores 35 or more points.

      • We are 18th in Passing Defense because the combined national rank of our FBS opponents in Passing Offense is 85th. Four of the six (S Miss, Wisco, tOSU and NW) rank in 100s nationally in that category. S Miss was the only one we really made look bad, and they were such a mess with a new staff that they played 3 quarterbacks against us.

Absolutely. 90% of collegiate QBs will be successful when faced with 3-4 man rushes.

90% of them will see more than 4-man rushes on 90% of the snaps they take, and 90% of them look mentally and mechanically better than Martinez.

Our expectations have been reduced to a truly pitiful level.

              • TM is not an all american and we don't have one on the team. We were spoiled with Frazier, Frost, Crouch all in a row... even in the 80's we never had anything like that.

                • M had: Grbac, Collins, Griese, Dreisbach, Brady, Henson, Navarre, Henne, Threet, Forcier, Robinson. Mallett should've been there instead of Threet but Carr retired.

                  • Threet and Forcier were not all american caliber.. Griese just managed games. I wouldn't put him with the others..

what is intereresting is 2 yrs ago, I would have said Robinson would have ended up the best of that group.

Travis Turner didn't start for four years.

Same here. He had the ability to dominate football games, and now he's almost a liability.

                              • Those were all M's starters in a row, obviously.

Henson should've had another year, it would've been AA caliber. Mallett should've been in there instead of Threet and probably Forcier too. Robinson looks much better as a Jr/Sr if he's used via RR. It's a great tradition of college QB's at M and hope that cotinues.
