***University of Nebraska-Lincoln Chancellor Harvey Perlman will introduce Eichorst in a couple minutes.
***Current athletic director Tom Osborne is in attendance. Doesn't look like any coaches are here.
***Eichorst has arrived.
***Perlman said Eichorst met Osborne last night as well as NU athletic staff and coaches. Eichorst's wife and three sons are here.
***Perlman reiterated the importance of this hire, saying how complex the position of the modern AD in college athletics.
***Perlman said Eichorst has all the tools to do a great job at Nebraska, and he also understands the traditions NU athletics prides itself on.
***Eichorst now up.
***He said this was an amazing opportunity, and thanked Osborne for giving him the opportunity to learn from a legend. He said when he thinks of Osborne, he thinks of more than a football coach, but as a leader who impacts the lives of young men.
***He stressed his rural roots, saying he worked all the chores on his family's farm in southwestern Wisconsin. He also said sports were always a big part of his life. He said he remembers watching Nebraska football growing up, even though he cheered for Wisconsin.
***He said he sees athletics not only as a way to provide opportunity, but to teach life lessons. He said Nebraska encompasses all of what athletics should be about.
***He said Barry Alvarez always told stories about his time at Nebraska when Eichorst worked under him at Wisconsin.
***He said NU will compete with class and sportsmanship, with the top priority being the well-being of the student-athletes.
***On why he applied for the NU job, Eichorst said he didn't apply, and that he was sought out. He Nebraska is a pinnacle of college athletics, so it was an easy decision. He said he was first contacted in late-August.
***Eichorst first visited NU the Sunday after Miami played at Kansas State. He said it was an interesting trip, but he felt very good about how the process played out.
***He said he feels Miami athletics are better now than when he got there. He said the financial hurdles were the hardest part of the job, but said any other issues at Miami had zero impact on him taking the NU job.
***Before taking the job, he said Alvarez was one of his best resources in making the decision.
***Eichorst said any football questions would be for Osborne until he official steps down, but said he finally got to meet Bo Pelini during last night's staff meeting. He said he plans to get more involved in the program over the next few months.
***He said he plans to be in Osborne's "back pocket" for the next two months trying to learn all he can from "a legend."
***He said he would leave it to others to decide if he's a "high profile" A.D. like Alvarez. He said he doesn't necessarily want to be out in front, but knows that's part of the job at Nebraska and will do what he needs to do.
***Eichorst said his expectations at Nebraska are to carry on the traditions already set in place. He said NU is a place where "you don't have reinvent the wheel", and that the main thing is making sure the standard remains high and you hold people accountable to meet those standards.
***On the value of an outsider coming in for a job like this, he said his wide experience gives him a different outlook on how to do things. He said he doesn't have any "pre-conceived notions" about how to do things, but he might have a different perspective.
***At this time, he said he has no plans to bring any new people in from Miami or elsewhere.Grammar... The difference between feeling your nuts and feeling you're nuts.
