There's one supermarket in Saskatoon and one dairy shelf that is mostly expired string cheese with a smattering of moose fat products. Again -- Canada is a fucking hellhole.

The tariff nonsense could pretty easily be DJT's undoing. What he's doing otherwise -- DOGE -- even Ukraine -- is probably 50% or better. Border and DEI -- through the roof. But, it's the economy stupid. And if you fuck around you will find out. I mean -- there are definite tariff-ripe targets -- Chinese steel, eg. But, there isn't much precision. Of course, it's going to crush Canada -- I mean, Canada is going to be in absolute pain. But, I'm not sure to what end. I can see the bigger picture for other stuff -- some times I have to squint -- but I can see it. This, I don't see the long play.Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?

Targeting Canadian lumber and aluminum specifically is aggressively stupid. Especially when you campaigned on getting prices down practically overnight. We were all going to be shocked at how easy it is!
I know it sounds halfway nuts but I believe he is sincere in wanting to make some big territorial acquisition for his "legacy".

Yeah, I think it's all-the-way nuts. But, as a matter of politics, you can blame The Chairman and his nonsense until you take aggressive intervening acts that shift the responsibility to you. So, the tariffs are, IMO, twofold stupid -- (1) as a matter of economic policy, they're a tax and taxes are bad economic business; and (2) it claims ownership of economic conditions much sooner than needs to be done -- politically speaking.Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?

The one good thing about having lowly Canada as a token state is you can get rid of grandma easily for some little ailment as they have no-fault euthanasia. They in fact encourage patients entering hospitals to get kavorkianed

DJT is assaulting the economies of countries who import to the US, and in the process create trade imbalances that Trump argues hurts all sectors of the US economy. Trump wants to wipe those out and he thinks doing this will bring manufacturing back to the US and the "long-play" with that approach is a strong economic boom in the US (a return to the "Gilded Age."). I dunno .......
Analysts I'm reading aren't as upbeat as Trump and his advisors are about this approach. The US economy, according to the Feds most recent take on it is that "the US economy will decline in the 1st quarter of this year." By all measures, that's what's happening. The slide is likely to continue, it is said. Factors in play are the looming trade war which creates uncertainty and Trump's chaotic economic policy statements that add to it. Consumer sentiment is also taking a hit creating less drive for consumption - a big part of the US economy. Of course, Trump would like to "transition" the the health of the US economy to health estimates that rely more on manufacturing. To that end, Trump has defended his action by saying there will be short term pain but long term gain.
I believe that fundamentally, Trump's path forward is defensible. However, the actual long term outcome is, at this point, unknown. That's because a complicated interlocking web of global trade has emerged over the last 30 years. It would seem, the global economy involving major economic players on it's stage, has grown to the benefit of all due to a prevailing economic and political stability for at least the last 15-20 years. That is being upset, somewhat by the ME Israel v. Hamas, et. al. conflict, and the Ukraine v. Russia wars, but, in greater part, contributing to that upset is a new disruptive force in the form of the President of the US.Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.

If you are of conservative beliefs, you don't really want Ontario either. Its the Canadian version of Oregon and Washington politically. No national candidate wins in Canada without the support of Ontario. That's why Trudeau survived so long."Never iron a four-leaf clover, because you don't want to press your luck"
