DJT could have won solely on fixing the border...it was that bad.

That's probably right. I mean, it took a rather impressive pile of sheer D incompetence both in terms of policy and candidate selection to push DJT to a popular vote victory. If they were trying to lose the election I'm not sure they would have done much different.Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?
Brady Hoke: You know.....not....good.

Trump's approval numbers are still above water but there's been a noticeable dip in the averages since the Inauguration. Multiple polls came out this week showing he has negative approval numbers on the economy. Almost 2/3 of Americans think he isn't doing enough to fight inflation. Like Talent said that won't matter much NOW but voters aren't the most patient people. By mid-summer those numbers will drag on him.
The problem for him is the majority of his economic platform is inflationary. Especially if he actually does send out another round of checks to people.

Two things that undercut the DOJ's argument that dropping this case is about principle, not leverage.
1) If Trump feels this prosecution was unfair he could just pardon Adams. Problem solved. But he won't.
2) If DOJ genuinely believes this case was too weak to take to trial and never should've been pursued in the first place, they should be requesting that it be dismissed with prejudice. But they are reserving the right to re-indict him in the future. If it's not about having leverage over Adams, then why?

If those of us posting here are "gullible," we join the 77m voters in their gullibility that secured a Trump presidency. That's a stretch. DJT was elected president because American voters clearly rejected the continuation of decades of failed Democratic party policies on immigration, DEI, the environment, the growth of the administrative state and inflationary spending on government handouts. I believe it is safe to say that cohort of 77m chose and continue to choose to value substantive change and to unwind the damage done by the D party to America. This view tends, IMO, correctly to overlook the asshat that DJT actually is and is made out to be by a D friendly American press.
Wiz checks that progress off in his post above. I'd add to that list that Trump has advanced a paradigm shift in looking at and solving the seemingly unsolvable problems involving conflict in both the ME between Palestinians and Israelis and in the battle for Ukraine between the Ukrainians and Russians.
On another related note, Trump has been skewered for saying, "Ukraine started the war (with Russia)." Although I don't entirely subscribe to this characterization of that conflict, it isn't as indefensible as Trump's critics have made it out to be. Very early on after the Russian invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, Russian spokespersons and Putin himself outlined the reasons he undertook his "special Military Operation" in Ukraine. Putin believed that the Zelenski government presented an existential threat to sovereign Russia by seeking EU and NATO membership. for Ukraine. He believed, and arguably saw this correctly, that the potential for placing NATO forces and weapons on the border of Mother Russia, and in territory once a part of the Russian empire and later the USSR, was unacceptable. Putin and his people (e.g. Sergey Lavrov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation) declared he was acting proactively to defend Russia from a gradual drift to pro-democracy movements and Western European values in Eastern Europe, some of that already occuring in the former states of the Soviet Union. Of course, Western officials, analyst and the press blew this off. Is it a legitimate Casus Belli? I think you can argue that it was (JMO).Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.

Trump got 49.8 % of the votes. Harris got 48.3%
That is not a mandate. It is essentially a tie.
Gullibility runs rampant.
Leopards are eating faces all across the country.
When will your "Are we the baddies?" moment come?
I feel like I am watching the destruction of our democracy while my neighbors and friends cheer it on
