      • I'm surprised that no one here has posted anything about the Federal Government paying millions to "news" outlets like Politico. I just posted this to the WSJ:

For example, the President posted the following on Truth Social:

“LOOKS LIKE BILLIONS OF DOLLARS HAVE BEEN STOLLEN AT USAID, AND OTHER AGENCIES, MUCH OF IT GOING TO THE FAKE NEWS MEDIA AS A ‘PAYOFF’ FOR CREATING GOOD STORIES ABOUT THE DEMOCRATS,” “THIS COULD BE THE BIGGEST SCANDAL OF THEM ALL, PERHAPS THE BIGGEST IN HISTORY! THE DEMOCRATS CAN’T HIDE FROM THIS ONE. TOO BIG, TOO DIRTY!”

No article about this in Friday's WSJ. WSJ does have a big article about a person on the DOGE team posting racist remarks on p 4.

When the President of the United States points to massive theft at USAID giving money to news outlets for favorable coverage, that sounds like a major story to me, but the WSJ spikes it.

WSJ should tell its readers how much money it received from the US government last year.

            • So basically the Progs are complaining about the Trump Administration's overreach into their beloved wasteful programs. They also detest the fact that an "unelected outsider" is a main cog in that.

              This is so fucking beautiful.

This is old news. I posted about it days ago. That's why there's no headline about it in the WSJ. It happened Wednesday. They were paying for subscriptions to Politico Pro, which nearly every lawmaker in Congress has a subscription to.

Have you ever heard of a Bloomberg Terminal? It's something close to that except it provides up-to-the minute updates on legislation and policy changes.

It was revealed that Lauren Boebert's office even has a subscription

Boebert Revealed to Have Subscription to Outlet That She Claims ‘No One Trusts’

I don't know if every single person with a subscription in the federal government truly needed it, but this is not the huge GOTCHA moron MAGA chumps were making it out to be.

                • Can guarantee some dumb MAGA asshole is going to find a bunch of DOJ money going to Thompson-Reuters and scream from the rooftops that it's proof the Biden administration was bribing Reuters for good news coverage or something.

Nevermind that Thompson-Reuters is a major company with many divisions besides the newswire. Including WESTLAW, one of if not THE most important database in the world for legal research.

USAID paying for Politico is a misleading claim

But that's not what USAID and the other government agencies are paying for. In truth, Politico's premium product isn't political news coverage, progressively slanted or otherwise: It's minute-to-minute updates on regulatory decisions that impact specific industries. This is information that political and government agencies need and that Politico supplies, for a premium price. As independent journalist Lee Fang points out, Politico isn't the only game in town: Bloomberg and LexisNexis run similar services. Politico's price tag is comparable to theirs.

"Politico provides paywalled 'pro' subscription services that cost over $10,000 per login for up-to-the-minute, detailed reporting on policy decisions and regulations," writes Fang. "The $8.1 million in Politico subscriptions referenced above relates to years of subscriptions by agency officials across the government."

Lauren Boebert, Elise Stefanik, and Mike Johnson himself ALL have Politico Pro subscriptions.

The best part of that scene was the old guy waving a cane around that they stuck in the front for who knows what reason.

$ 10,000 per login? Seems they would burn through eight million pretty fast at that rate.

It only shows how hard-left you are that you consider Soave to be conservative.

My position is that anyone who wants to subscribe to any news outlet should pay for it themselves. To charge it to the taxpayer creates the appearance of impropriety.

I also believe that when the President of the US says "This could be the biggest scandal of all, perhaps in history..." it deserves SOME coverage.
