The attached screenshot is from the website Democrats.org where one finds repeated solicitations to send money to the Democratic Party because yesterday's inauguration featured "Hitler salutes."
The controversy — such as it is — stems from Elon Musk's brief speech that will make great fodder for late night progressive comedians, like Jon Stewart, but there's not much to see.
It appears Mr. Musk was signaling with hand gestures that he was thankful from the bottom of his heart for all the people and support in the room. In a moment of excitement, he put his hand over his heart and then gestured as if he was extending the love in his heart, through his outstretched hand, to the cheering crowd surrounding him. The whole hand movement lasted less than a second.
That is the "Hitler salute" that Democrats say is a great threat to liberty and a good reason to send your money to them.
To be clear, I do not know Mr. Musk. I do not know what Mr. Musk knows or thinks about Adolph Hitler, German Nazism, or related subjects.
I do, however, know about Nazism: Nazism was a particular party and national political movement based on the same modern progressive social science that American academics studied (in Germany) in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
Those were the academics who, after earning their PhDs in Germany, returned to the United States and founded the first modern graduate programs in political science, sociology, psychology, history, anthropology, and the other progressive social sciences.
Nazism was fueled by an almost-religious faith in progressive economic central planning and social engineering, including progressive eugenics, which provided the intellectual and theoretical foundation for Nazi death camps.
Nazis espoused socialism, yet were embarrassed to admit they were communists. So, they mocked communism, while celebrating socialism. (Sound familiar?)
I also know that Nazis, like all other progressives, create and expand government bureaucracy. Nazis, like all other progressives, don't dismantle or diminish government bureaus, offices, agencies, and commissions.
If, then, Mr. Musk is a progressive Nazi, it would seem he is terribly confused, playing for the wrong team, and is heading the wrong kind of effort with his DOGE initiative. If he is a progressive Nazi, he would want to EXPAND government bureaucracies, RESTRICT the liberties of citizens and CONTROL their lives and businesses EVEN MORE, and take MORE MONEY from them.

These people have been in jail for four years for assaulting police officers. That exceeds what similarly situated criminals from the DC area get for assault on an officer. These folks were discriminated against because of their political beliefs.

We had a local wacko in the area who was arrested by cops a few years back because he was stalking his ex-wife. When the cops started to cuff him, he turned around and started fighting them. He bit one of the officers so hard it drew blood. He ended up being charged with a misdemeanor, and served 8 months in jail.
