  • I'll be pulling for the Ravens, given the Harbaugh connection. John Harbaugh is a doggone good coach. If they could play the Chiefs in a game that is called legitimately by the zebras, I think they could beat them. But with the KC Protections in place, I don't see anyone getting past them. We can't let Taylor Swift cry ...

The Lions did a massive face plant last night. It was awful to see. I thought they were past that stage where they self-destruct. Washington is a good team, and every Lions fan remembers Mike Sainristill, who had his best day as a pro for DC. But I still don't see them as head and shoulders above everyone else in the NFC. Eagles, Commanders, Rams ... put all three in a bag and shake them up, .. they all come out the same.

    • Did the Commander's QB, Jayden Daniels, look as good as he did v. the Lions because the Lion's D, collectively, is just bad b/c of injuries? IDK, he made some great throws into good coverage that only his receivers could catch. Lions were particularly bad at sealing the edges and letting Daniels escape there for critical 1st downs that kept the chains moving. Can the Chiefs make life miserable for Daniels? It certainly would seem they can. Combine that with the possibility officials are on the take for Kansas City and Mahomes, Chiefs to the SB.

The Lions have been holding that defense together with bailing wire and duct tape all year. In addition to the injuries that devastated the defense over the season, last night they lost their #1 CB (who was the nickel at the start of the year) on the first or second series. They had a undrafted free agent rookie who had only had one previous NFL snap playing safety in the fourth quarter.
The last half of the season was only successful because the offense was near perfect. It was only a matter of time until the offense would have a bad game.

Those of us who follow the Lions closely were hopeful, but knew deep down that a true Superbowl run was not likely. I think many of us knew that the season wasn't going to end up like we hoped when Hutch went down for the year. You can't replace a game changer like that with practice squad and waiver wire players or scheme.

Winning a championship is hard. It takes a good team with a lot of luck, especially on the injury front.

The Lions are not there yet, but I am optimistic for the future. It is nice to be competitive for a change. After an entire lifetime of Lions futility, I'll take it.

I guess we'll see how it goes.

        • Back on topic ....... a ceasefire is in place between the Israeli's and Hamas effective around 8am our time. Three hostages were released to the Red Cross along with Israel releasing some bad actors, a whole lot of them, that Israel properly imprisoned. I'm reading that in total, it will be less than 100 Israelie's, some of them probably already dead, for upwards of 1000 Palestinian terrorists.

Something is very wrong with that picture. I get why some key Israeli cabinet members have resigned over Netanyahu's agreeing to the upcoming nebulous terms that seem to favor the terrorists and represent a victory for Hamas. Guaranteed, Hamas will rebuild their military structures and in the coming months become a credible force committed to destroying Israel.

We're less than 36h from Trump becoming POTUS. Managing the threat that Hamas will present to both US and Israeli interests is going to be an early indicator of how good Trump is going to be in managing US Security interests in the ME. Add that to immigration and the war in Ukraine, he's going to have a shit-ton on his plate.

          • Lions are somewhat depleted on defense and the Skins exploited that...plus piss poor angles and tackling didn't help.
            Shut the fuck up Donny!

Yep. That's what happens when you are playing with third stringers and practice squad players.

              • Look, I’m not even a Lions fan but I’ve never seen a team suffer more injuries on one side of the ball. They had 16 (SIXTEEN) defensive players on injured reserve. By the end of the season it was literally a practice squad with a few regulars thrown in here and there. It does not rise to the level of a choke job or face plant.

I fully expect the Lions to be the team to beat next season. Sky is the limit.
