I was thinking this morning how Democrats have labeled Republicans as "dangerous" to democracy. Yet, Dems are the ones most vocal about changing the Constitution to their own beliefs.
For instance:
Packing the Supreme Court - Democrat proposal. Not only do they want to pack the Court, but they want to be sure they can always have the political majority.
Eliminate the Electoral College: This is still a thing among the Democratic Party. They want only the popular vote to count, so that the elite leftists can rule ffrom large cities and the coasts, rather than pay any attention to flyover America where the real people live. It wouldn't have mattered in the last two elections, but I guess this one that still stings for Hillary.
Finally, I guess Kamala still thinks she can win. She's going to be a player for the '28 Dem nomination. The woman hasn't won anything on a national leve. Not a single primary. But yet, she still thinks she can win it all.
Also New York City and Los Angeles are as much "Real America" as your Shiawassee slice of heaven.

I lived in NYC for 2 1/2 years while in the USCG. Right in the heart of Brooklyn at Fort Hamilton.
Shiawassee County has better schools, better and safer neighborhoods, less crime, friendlier people, better stores, better roads, and more people who will help a neighbor than NYC has.
I think I'll stay here."The stockings were hung by the chimney with care, .. I'd worn them for weeks, and they needed the air"

Harris would be smart to run for CA Gov in 2026. She would be a strong candidate in that race.
Interesting/strong candidates (right now) for 2028
Gov Newsom
Gov Whitmer
Sen Ed Markey
Sen John Fetterman (not a fan of his 180 but he could make a claim he is a maverick.....progressive wing would be strongly against him)
Jon Stewart (not sure he would ever run but has shown political chops on the burn pit issues....could be dangerous in the debates)
2012 Detroit Lions Draft: 1) Cordy Glenn G , 2) Brandon Taylor S, 3) Sean Spence olb, 4) Joe Adams WR/KR, 5) Matt McCants OT, 7a) B.J. Coleman QB 7b) Kewshan Martin WR

Its called personal liberty. What the nation was founded on. Not selective liberty as decided by the central government."The stockings were hung by the chimney with care, .. I'd worn them for weeks, and they needed the air"

If I was forced to live in NYC but I had my choice of which borough to live in, I'd choose Staten Island. Its still NYC with all its faults, but its more real neighborhoods than brownstones. They have actual shopping centers and real homes with garages and sidewalks out front."The stockings were hung by the chimney with care, .. I'd worn them for weeks, and they needed the air"

Conservatives love to bash the "everyone gets a trophy" mentality but suggest that their forgettable Midwest small-town is inferior in any aspect to New York City or San Francisco and the tears start flowing. "Treat Owosso with respect!! Our pizza is as good as yours!!"
There are tradeoffs to living anywhere. Is rural America safer than downtown Detroit? Yeah. But I have friends who lived in a very rural and very pretty part of eastern Ohio. The closest store that would qualify as a real grocery store was over 30 minutes away (a WalMart). So was the nearest hospital. Not for me. Eventually it wasn't for them either. Once their kids were school age they moved in much closer to the nearest city (which even then only had about 10,000 people).
Anyways less than 1 in 5 Americans lives in "Real America" now. Shiawassee, incidentally, is not officially considered rural because it's part of the Lansing metro area.
Almost 2/3 of the counties in the US are considered "rural" but they contain just 18% of the population.
