CNN Headline: Russia says Ukraine attacked it using U.S. long-range missiles, signals it’s ready for nuclear response.
US officials confirmed the Russian claims.
Putin is not going to give a launch order of nuclear armed ICBMs or give an order to start using tactical nukes in Ukraine. This is more like the first stage of nuclear brinksmanship. When Putin threatened nukes earlier in the war, US intelligence reported that typical signals that are associated with launch orders and missile preparation never occurred - there was no change in Russia's nuclear posture then and there won't be any serious changes to it now.
Well see some activity suggesting Putin is considering a bold response to this attack and any additional ATACM attacks inside Russia but it won't involve nukes.
