Hey Chuck: You know, after giving some serious thought, I think I'd like to take you up on your plan to add four (4) new Justice positions to the US Supreme Court now! Its a fantastic idea! As you said before, we need to do this to assure our democracy survives, and that the will of the people will always prevail!
Lets get on this right away! I'm sure we can count on your support since it was your idea!
Thanks in advance!!

why is high fructose corn syrup cheaper (in the US) than pure cane sugar in the first place?
1) Subsidies to Midwest corn farmers
2) Protectionist policies that sharply limit foreign sugar in order to protect America’s small but politically powerful sugar industry. Cane sugar would be dirt cheap if we had a true free market for it.

Im also dubious RFK will actually be doing that. I just wanted to point out we keep US sugar prices artificially high (roughly double the international price) in order to please two interest groups.

As most know, I travel a lot. I’ll drink a coke in Scotland, for example, but the HFCS cokes here are too cloying or something. I’ll get a “Mexican Coke” at a local taqueria. It’s just noticeably better.
I hope RFKjr does it."The problem with quotes on the Internet is that it is sometimes hard to verify their authenticity." -Abraham Lincoln

The occasional mexicoke in a glass bottle is so damned satisfying. Especially with tacos or a burger + fries. All for it.
Crickets on the Ukraine story? I know Foxnews decided to bury it, but at least it’s top story on CNN. Seems like this kind of escalation is a terrible idea. Like if an employee was fired and decided to go scorched earth on his/her way out. Scary times…AAL 2023 - Alim McNeill

Zelenski has been asking Biden to green light ATACAMs to strike troop and logistics concentrations in the Kursk region. Recall that Ukraine launched an assault into the Kursk region of Russia in August and embarrassingly seized and occupied a fairly substantial portion of the Kursk oblast. A tactical objective of that incursion was to keep Russian artillery from gaining positions that are in range (about 25 miles) of the Ukrainian city of Karkiv - Ukraine's 2nd largest.
The tipping point for Biden was the audacious addition of NK troops wearing Russian uniforms to operations to recapture embarrassingly lost territory in Russia proper from Ukraine. Putin has issued many "red line" statements including nuclear saber rattling. He's failed to act aggressively on any of them. This goes down as a calculated tit for tat move. It's not an escalation and would be only if Putin actually decided to take some kind of decisive retaliation - which, so far, he has failed to do upon western allies increasing pressure on the ground in the region.
While it's true that Russia is ahead in the slug fest, wearing down Ukrainian forces and making life miserable for Ukrainians by crippling infrastructure that supports power distribution inside Ukraine, he's not free of significant problems that he is being forced to deal with. His army has suffered massive attrition in men and materials. Putin can retributively respond but has to choose wisely to prevent what he absolutely does not want - a full scale conventional NATO response to whatever he comes up with. He will lose that one and I'm not sure that isn't the direction the western alliance should be heading.
For the moment, both sides are maneuvering to gain leverage for the soon to come negotiations to end the conflict that Trump says he will facilitate. His administration has sent signals that negotiations should focus on stopping hostilities not on claiming territory. That applies to both sides. How much leverage Trump has with Putin is TBD and I won't hazard a guess of whether or not Trump can force concessions from Putin and a backing away from Zelenski's goal of re-establishing Ukrainian borders to where they were in 2014 - before Putin seized Crimea and partially occupied the Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts.Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.
