Cornyn lost and now isn't even part of the leadership team anymore. He's facing reelection in 2026 at age 74 and almost certainly getting a far right primary challenger. Maybe retires instead?
Texas is prob not a realistic Dem pickup in 2026 (unless things get REALLY bad) but facing a Kari Lake/Mar Robinson type instead of Cornyn could help.
