Walz DOES come across as more authentically Midwest than JD Vance certainly does. But this also feels like the Tim Kaine pick in 2016. Lots of people liked him personally but that won't overcome the top of the ticket.

Again, Shapiro basically has no skeletons in the closet.* And he's from an actual swing state Harris needs to win.

And, we'll see where Shapiro goes over the next 4 years -- but I don't think he's gonna ever win the D nomination if he's actually semi centrist.

He was already put on trial for the Floyd riots and covid policy in his 2022 reelection and still beat the Republican by 8 points. Of course that chump was also running on a Tudor Dixon-esque platform of banning all abortion, no exceptions for rape.

But I do seriously question how much normie swing voters care about 2020 stuff anymore and I'd include election denial and Jan. 6th in that too. It fires up the R base, sure, but if getting revenge for strict covid shutdowns was a priority for voters, Ron DeSantis ought to have done a lot better than he did.

Also -- the top of ticket on both sides is so horrible that there's really not much a VP is going do, IMO. I mean, it's gonna come down narrow personal preferences in a very narrow slice of the electorate. There is, IMO, absolutely no way Vance or Walz moves that needle. I do think Burgum or Shapiro might have had a small impact. Both tend to actually balance the top of the ticket issues and the latter, in particular, has swing state value.

That said, I'm not sure Burgum, e.g., is much different than Pence from a political value standpoint. So, meh.

Regardless, I have roughly 90 some days to endure the worstest election in the history of free elections. And I won't even have OSU football to ease the pain as CRD runs a once-decent program straight into the shitter.

Harris - Walz doesn't exactly roll off the tongue. As someone who wants Harris to lose, I prefer this choice of VP over Shapiro. I also think it's very possible that those with hopes of the presidency in the future don't want to tie themselves to Harris.

Right now Harris is in the bubble riding the The Media's adoration -- I should note, a massive reversal from the "should Harris be VP" stories last year. The Rs need to actually introduce what a fucking clown she is to the folks. Everyone already knows what an asshate DJT is. That's his advantage. There's really not much else to say. But folks really aren't in tune with what a gargantuan tool Harris is -- so, there's ground to be gained there. I mean, with a modicum of competence. So, I'd say it's a 50/50 proposition at best.
