The UN Security Council was presented with a legally binding resolution from a group of Arab states calling for an immediate cease fire in Gaza. The US just vetoed it while offering an alternate resolution that call for both a cease fire and the release of Israel hostages (130 remains in captivity by Hamas). UNSC members have a period of time to discuss and review the US Resolution before it comes to a vote.
My take on this is that Israelis cannot allow Hamas to hole up in Rafah retaining what is estimated to be 4 battalions of fighters capable of continuing to strike Israel. The IDF is on the doorstep of producing a defeat of Hamas. All Hamas needs to do is to release the hostages and if that happens, Israel won't move into Gaza for now honoring the proposed cease fire.
I have no doubt the Palestinians, represented by Hamas and enabled by Iran, will continue to press on for the elimination of the state of Israel. To that end they will continue to resist any offers brokered by interested parties that provide a 2 state solution - what they have been doing since the Camp David Accords. That's why talk of that is a waste of time.
Somehow the public has lost sight of this realty that is incompatible with peace and stability in the ME Neuter Hamas, allow moderate Palestinians to take charge of their movement, and move forward from there. Solutions to the decades long Palestinian issue are there but militancy within the movement are making it impossible to reach them.

At some point it should be obvious that there are a set of entities that are thoroughly and completely anti-Western and that want to ultimately destroy Western liberal culture. All one has to do when thinking about a two-state solution is to ask "What political entity will rule the Palestinian state?". Any Palestinian state will ultimately be controlled by Iran, at best. Hamas, Hezbollah, or PLO at worst. The only hope for peace in the ME is an Israel-Sunni coalition in which Israel serves as the Silicon Valley of the alliance. The Sunnis certainly see that eventually, the oil will run out.

BBC is reporting that the young Russian pilot, Maxim Kuzminof, who flew a Russian MI-8, on August 9th 2022, into Ukrainian territory then defected has ben murdered in Alicante Spain. A burnt out auto was discovered near by the body. The story states Kuzminof was given $500,000 Hyrvana (about 357k pounds), a new identify and protection for him and his family. He was almost certainly assassinated by Russian agents. Russian state news spoke briefly about it on TV - that alone suggests it was hit.
I don't know what else detractors of US aid to Ukraine want to understand about Putin's Russia to justify their positions. Letting Putin roll-over any part of Ukraine, including Crimea, should elicit a strong response from the west. Words don't mean shit to Putin and he'll continue to pursue his expansionist policies based on revanchist history, including bringing about a new world order that is most certainly to be illiberal, unless he is faced with a credible threat that brings about his defeat.
The collective west is headed down a path of destruction where the threat of it will be enough have western powers bend at the knew before Putin. The recent release of intelligence that Russia is either in the process of or plans to put nuclear weapons into space should also be a clarion call to action. The nukes in questions are Electromagnetic Pulse (EMP) weapons that are capable of neutralizing anything dependent on electronic control to operate - power stations and grids, water supplies, weapons systems, you name it. The US is particularly vulnerable to just the threat if not crippled by and actual EMP weapon attack.Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished.
