        Anyway, we shall see.
I think it varies by defendant. People like Eastman and Powell are in trouble. Several people I respect say the case against Meadows is pretty weak.

        • I’ll take your word for it, I guess. But what’s proving problematic (IMO) is fitting this into a criminal statute. It sorta seems to me like it’s treason/sedition or it’s nothing — criminally speaking. So they’re having a hard time (IMO) alleging clear criminal conduct. They allege lots of reprehensible conduct. But that’s gotta meet specific elements of a criminal statute.

          • Well the other thing that I’ve heard from the beginning is that Georgia RICO charges are broader and a lower burden to prove than Federal ones. Other than impressions like that I can offer nothing intelligent to say about Georgia state law and that’s true of 90% of the commentators out there.

            • Seriously it all comes down to this, Are you a good guy, or a bad guy. I just try my best to be a good guy no matter the politics. Kick who needs kicking and hug who needs hugging. No, not gay, woke , or a tranny. Life isn't fair but if all things are equal it should be.

This from a guy who hates most everyone and doesn't have many friends because they seem to be mostly in it for themselves. I just want to try to be happy and do the best I can..Really just being honest and probably being a pussy to most of you evil bastards.

                • Jack Smith has Trump's Twitter DM's and drafted Tweets from the Jan 6th period. None of those have been made public before. Trump reportedly never texts (no paper trail) but he apparently did send/receive messages using twitter.

                        • I already have Trump Trial Exhaustion (TTE) and the shit hasn't even started yet. I'm pretty much checking out mentally of the Republican primary unless DeSantis decides to actually treat Trump as his enemy (which he is) and fight him. Assuming Trump is the nominee, he will lose. Hell, he may be in prison in November 2024. Make no mistake, 2024 is setting up to be an abject disaster. Trump will continue his losing streak and it will drag down the ticket across the country. Kamala Harris will matriculate to the presidency by fucking white dudes, riding their coattails, and checking the requisite diversity boxes. Far left progressive types like AOC and her ilk will gather more power. SCOTUS Justices will be replaced with Merrick Garland-level hacks. The federal judiciary will be remade by CRT professors from Harvard. And then Trump will run again in 2028 and we get to do it all over again. I will never understand his allure and why so many people will follow him off a cliff. I figure it's the same reasons people followed Jim Jones into the jungle. I don't understand, don't really care to understand.

Jim Geraghty has a great piece that pretty much hits the nail on the head. I won't post the whole thing but the last paragraph is perfect.

But, at least at this point, a majority of the Republican party has chosen to roll the dice on another nomination of Trump. Today’s Republican Party is not rational, and/or it does not really want to win the 2024 presidential election. It bewails the state of the country under President Biden, and then insists upon nominating the one man in America who has already lost an election to Biden. It contends the current erratic, rambling, irritable, habitually-lying 80-year-old is incapable of handling the duties of his office and then insists that an erratic, rambling, irritable 77-year-old is the only suitable replacement. The American people are extremely anxious about the cost of living and the state of the economy, and the GOP base is hell-bent on nominating a man who is likely to spend the next year and a half relitigating his 2020 loss and insisting that Venezuelan hackers and Chinese bamboo in the ballot paper in Arizona are proof the election is stolen. When voters tune in to the 2024 general election, looking for relief from high grocery prices, high gas prices, high mortgage and interest rates, Trump is likely to still be insisting that he won key states last cycle; this morning Trump is promising a “Large, Complex, Detailed but Irrefutable REPORT on the Presidential Election Fraud which took place in Georgia is almost complete.”

It is as if slightly more than half the Republican party wants to lose the 2024 presidential election, with all of the likely consequences for the down-ticket races.

                          • It's not the full story and some won't agree with this but conservative media over the past 30 years has played an enormous role in turning the R base into what it is today. And now the tiger's grown too big for them to ride anymore. Until the populist phase burns itself out, this is what the R party is gonna be.

                            • The hard core Trumpistas who follow him blindly are a cult. They love his in your face attitude fighting what they perceive as the harmful deep state...the progs fear Trump winning because he is a loose cannon...he let Hillary off the hook in 2017...but this time around the gloves are off...they will do anything and I mean ANYTHING to keep him out of the WH. Then there are the R's who are sensible...the problem is they are split among about 5 factions...if the R's can whittle it down to one solid candidate against Trump they have a shot. Trump will play on the divisiveness within the party. The D's are much better at the circle the wagon mentality...the D's are going to stonewall any meaningful action against Hunter/Joe...and are full steam ahead on the Trump actions...the goal for the D's is to get The Chairman across the finish line...then he will resign and pass the torch...ugh to Kamala. If the Biden investigations somehow lead to something more than just an annoyance...the D's will force the old man out sooner...probably Gavin...

Fucking R's. If they can't beat Joe fucking Biden then the party is dead...at least until Trump dies....or is in prison...
