Amazon has started their Black Friday sales and there are some great deals to be had! As you shop this holiday season, please consider using the forum's Amazon.com link (listed in the menu as "Amazon Link") to add items to your cart and purchase them. The forum gets a small commission from every item sold.
Additionally, the forum gets a "bounty" for various offers at Amazon.com. For instance, if you sign up for a 30 day free trial of Amazon Prime, the forum will earn $3. Same if you buy a Prime membership for someone else as a gift! Trying out or purchasing an Audible membership will earn the forum a few bucks. And creating an Amazon Business account will send a $15 commission our way.
If you have an Amazon Echo, you need a free trial of Amazon Music!! We will earn $3 and it's free to you!
Your personal information is completely private, I only get a list of items that were ordered/shipped via the link, no names or locations or anything. This does not cost you anything extra and it helps offset the operating costs of this forum, which include our hosting fees and the yearly registration and licensing fees.

Dangerous Times: In the NYTs Opinion section Thomas Friedman wrote "Vladimir Putin is the World's Most Dangerous Fool."
That is because Putin has put himself in a position where he can't win, can't lose and can't stop. Plan A has failed and he never had a plan B although he will fabricate one along the way. Friedman opines that the endgame in Ukraine, Putin's Plan B on the fly, is likely to feature a nuclear showdown where western nuclear powers face off with Russia, also a nuclear power, in a game of chicken taking the world to the precipice of a nuclear exchange. Putin will demand that Ukraine disarm, stop seeking EU and NATO membership and Russia keeps Ukrainian territory it has gained in exchange for a cease fire. If he follows this path he can claim victory in terms of Russia's ability to stop NATO eastward expansion and the EU's efforts to impose western culture on the Russian state. Its a dark end game for a lot of obvious reasons.
In a separate OpEd, Timothy Snyder points out that historically Russian leaders do not lose wars they undertake and survive. They can't lose and accordingly reframe goals for which the war was undertaken to facilitate explanations to the Russian people and the world in terms of alternate realities compared to what's actually happening on the ground. That has already started happening. Putin can claim a strategic victory over NATO if he bluffs his way to that strategic victory using the threat of nuclear war as a weapon.
Snyder states that the best way to stop Putin from blackmailing the west is to recognize that Putin will not resort to nuclear weapons, choosing instead the threat of it as a weapon. The west can ignore these threats and defeat Putin's ill fated campaign with conventional warfare. He asserts that the west has already lost time over withholding arms in fear of escalation by dilly-dallying on arming Ukraine with the weapons it takes to defeat Russian forces. Russia has NOT escalated, so far, over the last 19 months of hostilities in Ukraine over increasing armaments from the west. The fear of escalation precipitating a nuclear exchange is unjustified.
Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.
