Again, there was no filibuster. The R's were trying to repeal Obamacare through a reconciliation package. The vote was on an amendment. That requires just 50 Senate votes, not 60. McCain was vote #50 (Murkwoski and Collins were already loud No's). And McCain said fairly often from what I recall he wasn't happy about repealing Obamacare with nothing in place for the millions who'd lose coverage.

And he made a big production with his famous "thumbs down" in siding with the Democrats who demonized him during Obama/McCain 2008.

I respected McCain for his honorable service to the country, but he abandoned flyover America when he sided with (and surrendered to) the Democrats.

Negra Modelo USED to be a great Vienna style lager. The German immigrants back in the late 1800s brought the recipe with them. The Nazis pretty much went WAY further south, so you're safe (according to the History Channel).

Unfortunately, Modelo started cheapening Negra about a dozen years ago - right after people caught on to the fact that it was a really good Vienna. It's not what it used to be, but enough Americans don't know the difference..

ironically, the Germans do the same thing. The Paulaners, Haacker Pschorrs, and Spatens that you buy here aren't the same as you'll find in Deutschland.

I heard about the latter. Might not stand up in court. If they had the authority to overturn an election in ALL counties it might be different but targeting just one, the largest Dem stronghold in the state, could be a step too far.

The bill specifies that if a county RUNS OUT OF USABLE BALLOTS and 2% of the electorate is denied their right to vote on election day.

I agree that this should apply to all counties in the state.

The R’s had a 52-48 Senate majority in 2017. There was no chance in hell they were going to get 8 Dem votes to repeal Obamacare in a normal bill. So they tried reconciliation. Only need 50 votes. The problem they ran into is reconciliation has an annual deadline. To get it done by Sept 30 they couldn’t use the normal committee process or really debate. Had to be rammed through unusually fast. That’s where they lost McCain. Or maybe he never really wanted to repeal it. Who knows.
