If a drag show's content has nothing stronger in it than a PG-13 movie, should it still be illegal to take children to it?
It's kind of a serious question. I personally wouldn't take kids to a drag show. But there's a lot of R-rated movies full of sex and gore and f-bombs that I also wouldn't take a kid to and that's completely legal.
So I guess I'm saying that if there's no nudity, real or using props, no one's groping audience members, and no one's simulating sex acts on stage or anything...that should probably be legal. JMO. This doesn't sound like anything worse than any music video with twerking in it.

The world's biggest misdemeanor arrest in history! My god, Bragg is a moron. Hopefully, however many protestors show up and get arrested for being overly feisty will receive the same treatment from the Manhattan DA's office as the leftist protestors in the recent past.

I've seen speculation that a witness tampering charge could be in play and that's a felony. "Supposedly" Trump sent this Costello lawyer that's testifying today (for the defense) to Michael Cohen who dangled a pardon in exchange for keeping his mouth shut. It's very sketchy. Barring any big surprises, and I doubt there will be, these are weak charges to pursue against a former President. At some point Bragg is going to have to explain what new information he received to change his mind and prosecute and if there isn't anything, that'll be damning. The stuff going on in Atlanta and DC should worry Trump a lot more.Last edited by Dr. Strangelove; March 20, 2023, 09:22 AM.

It's a shame this will be the first indictment against Trump. It probably is the weakest case against him. Just a function of being the farthest one down the legal pipe.
However, Trump calling for protests all over does start to have a pattern. Jan. 6th (...if Pence doesn't do the right thing.....fight like hell....), AG Garland (....is there anything we can do to calm the waters.....)) and what we have currently ....
That is going to be another brick for prosecutors to use I would think.

Trump is going to turn it into a shiny golden moment for himself. He'd love nothing more than being handcuffed and paraded thru the media in a perp walk. His campaign committee would likely use the video in his run for the presidency.
Once again, democrats are spitting into the wind going after Trump."in order to lead America you must love America"

This is an interview with a Marine Corps colleague of mine, Perry Pendley, who left the USMC in 1972 and headed to law school. He's had a 40y illustrious career working in multiple positions, inside and outside government - including the Under-Secretary of the Interior where he headed up the Bureau of Land Management (BLM). His legal work has focused on beating back environmental activism. He's argued cases 3X before the Supreme Court all of them representing little guys whose businesses (cattle, water rights, logging, drilling/fracking) were getting screwed by environmental regulations.
To be clear, he's not anti-protection of the land. He supports most of those efforts already on the books. What he rails against is the Biden administration's refusal to comply with those laws - namely leasing of federal lands. The feds are supposed to determine what local businesses want to use federal land for, you know, economic development, once per quarter. That has happened once, at the end of Trump's presidency and not since. Biden, under pressure from the idiotic greens on the left in congress, just says, nope, not doing that. We need to protect the spotted owl. Welp, you can't log there so logging companies close up shop and hundreds of jobs disappear. Its insane.
Overall and beyond the example of the logging industry, thousands of potential and actual jobs are lost protecting endangered species - now in the thousands. The reality is that activists don't care about the loss of the spotted owl, they want to prevent growth. Small towns in western states fold because revenue that could be derived from the economic use of these federal to be leased lands disappears and so do investors. Local government and schools can't be funded and they close.
I had no idea the degree to which environmental activism - the kind of it that Biden is beholding to for any number of reasons that do not have anything to do with building a strong economy and making America resource independent. Not unsurprisingly after listening to Perry talk about it, that is across the board resources from oil and gas to rare minerals that whacko environmentalists are preventing from being sensibly mined, cut down, whatever. I am stunned at America's dependence on our potential adversaries for any resource we might need who can then leverage our needs for these resources into geopolitical gain.
Not many of you will watch the whole thing but it is crammed with exquisite details of how fucked up the current administration is (and past administrations at varying levels) in knee-capping economic development and growth, especially in the west. I was shocked at the detailed numbers that Perry provides in the interview. When the feds make available and lease federal lands for business development and that development becomes profitable, they take in royalties which by law, a percentage of which, are sent back to fund the locals that occupy said federal lands. The impact of withholding leases to one third of US territory - yep, you've got that right, 1/3 of US land is owned by the feds, is costing the US economy billions of dollars, millions of jobs and rendering the US a secondary global power dependent on other governments to give us access to their resources.
