The rest of your post is arguable. But this is absurd. You say vote-by-mail favors rural voters and Rs "traditionally favored it" Name one state that has adopted vote-by-mail in which the Rs were even marginally in favor of it. Name a vote-by-mail state that is not overwhelmingly Dem.

Vote by mail facilitates fraud, and the Dems, going back hundreds of years have been the party of election fraud in the big cities. Even when I was young, most cities had "machines" to turn out the D vote. The general trend in American history was toward giving the franchise to more and more citizens and that was good politics. Rs have always stood for voting in person and on election day.

The Ds have always been the party of making voting easier to the point that our elections are becoming unreliable. The idea that we can send a ballot to people by mail and have them vote by mail is an open invitation to fraud. The idea that voters are not smart enough to go to the polls is also silly.

If you had read one post further I name a bunch of historically Republican states that have no excuse mail voting. Idaho, Utah, Alaska, Arizona, Wyoming. And they were all among the first states to adopt it. Especially in the West and around Indian reservations it makes more sense to allow mail voting rather than force people to drive 50 miles to a polling center.

Pennsylvania’s Republican controlled legislature voted for no excuse mail voting before Covid was even a thing. They were for it before Trump commanded them to hate it.

            • Meanwhile, a news outlet in the UK has published the "Lockdown Files", a series of messages that confirm yet another batch of conspiracy theories about the Corona Virus lockdowns. Namely, that British officials lied repeatedly about the dangers of the Corona Virus and massively and deliberately exaggerated it to provoke mass fear and panic in the public in order to ensure compliance on lockdowns. They also show that Health Secretary Matt Hancock was over the moon about about how great Corona was for his career.

While they closed down beaches and public parks and forced your kids to wear masks in schools, they were popping champagne corks and laughing their asses off at the gullible masses. Whatever your level of disdain is for the sociopathic ghouls who run our society, it's not enough.

So Michigan voters, back in 2018, passed no reason absentee voting (among other things) is not consitutional? Careful you anti-democracy is showing.

                    • I think there probably was some isolated voter fraud in the areas where you'd normally expect it. There's lots of jokes out there about voting "often" in some places like Chicago, and other areas, but I don't think it was a nationwide conspiracy that shifted the election. Fact is, Trump made himself un-electable with his twitter statements, his abuse of his own people, and a unexplainable bad attitude. The Dems put up the weakest, most dumb-minded pair of cartoon characters in the entire history of the country, and somehow Trump managed to alienate enough people to lose. He never should have lost. He was managing the Covid thing about as good as it could be done, given that NOBODY knew what they were talking about. The economy was soaring with employment levels, even for minorities, at record levels. The country was winding down involvement in Afghanistan and Iraq. We were energy independent in the oil/natural gas industry.

But yet this nimrod still managed to lose. If he just would have been 50% more presidential, he could have easily won. Trump lost, and its his own fault. And unfortunately, there are enough of his supporters who may just have enough power to get him nominated again, where he will promptly lose again. And an excellent candidate like DeSantis can't get around that.

Meanwhile the Boob and Bimbo combination currently in the office(s), look on and laugh at us all.

                      • This has been one of the lead stories today but worth commenting on because of its scope. Russia launched 80 missiles targeting what the Russians call military infrastructure to include electrical grids that supply factories to build and repair weapons, military supply depots, rear area logistics facilities and troop concentrations. Ukraine calls it terrorism directed against the Ukrainian civilian population. It would seem to me that journalists on the ground could assemble a pretty clear picture of what was actually targeted and that we see none of that suggests that the Ukrainians don't want that information in the public domain. I don't doubt that some, not all, of what gets struck by these Russian missiles are military in nature. I also don't doubt that the Ukrainians want to propagandize the terror directed v. civilians rhetoric.

In any event the missiles simultaneously struck across all of Ukraine representing something new in terms of the scope of the attack when analysts had been reporting Russia is running out of these weapons. Also new was the first (admitted) use of the high-precision long-range Kinzhal hypersonic missile - 6 of them. Ukraine's air defenses, in fact most of the worlds known air defense systems, can't track, intercept and destroy these Kinzhai missiles when they are still in the air. They travel at 5X the speed of sound.

Also of note and related to this morning missile strikes was that the Zaphorizia Nuclear Power Plant was disconnected from the power source it relies on to cool it's nuclear reactors. It has been reported it's been reconnected in the last couple of hours. Officials from the various agencies that monitor nuclear power plants have been warning for months of the dangers of failing to create a de-militarized safe zone around Europe's biggest nuclear power plant. Russia troops occupy the plant. Ukrainian engineers man it. There's no question that Putin is leveraging the current situation to his advantage as dastardly as that is. Putin has no limits to his cruelty.
