Yeah found out later that he and Gaetz were checking with her if any Democrats planned to leave if the votes kept going (none did). The way electing the Speaker works is that you need a majority of the members present, not the total membership. So if half the Dems said we're bored and this is stupid and then walked out, that would make it significantly easier for McCarthy to win.

Gosar and the R rebels didn't want that to happen but as it turns out the Dems had every intention of making McCarthy squirm.

Ukrainians are suspicious. A bilateral ceasefire was declared months ago to allow humanitarian aid and evacuations into and out of Mariopal. Russian forces fired on these convoys and/or refused to let them pass check points.
