IMO, Oz was a boring candidate who wasn't good at retail politics and who ran a really bad campaign early. He let Fetterman define him without calling out the single biggest issue re Fetterman...whether he could, you know, function. Oz still ran way better than Mastriano, who was actually a very, very bad candidate.

The Democrats forced Al Franken to resign because a ten year old photo of him pretending to grope a woman's breasts emerged. So a big "whatever" to the idea that Dems stand by their guys no matter what.

They forced him to resign because that photo (along with an accusation of some unwanted sexual advances) came at the apex of the #METOO movement and they had little choice but to make him their sacrificial lamb to give credibility to "believe all women". Once the Kavanaugh madness was over, they went back to ignoring sexual misconduct accusations against Democrats again.

Any issue that Oz has as a campaigner goes double for Fetterman. Hillary Clinton was the most transparent carpetbagger in the history of politics. Nobody in New York cared. Why the one-sided view and the double standard on candidate quality? Why do Republicans have to roll a Natural 20 all the time when it comes to candidate quality? Any open attack by Oz on Fetterman's fitness for office would have backfired spectacularly. The media would have portrayed him as "ableist" or "mean spirited".

So, Oz was still DJT guy. He wasn't Mastriano, but he was still DJT. And Fetterman was a bad candidate -- he was certainly no Shapiro. SO, that the Senate race was much closer than the absolute aboriton in the Governor's race. BUT, still, the Pennsylaniva electorate preferred a barely literate stroke victim to a DJT-endorsed candidate.
