          • “I can no longer remain in today's Democratic Party that's under the complete control of an elitist cabal of warmongers,” Gabbard said, “who are driven by cowardly wokeness who divide us by racializing every issue and stoking anti-white racism, who actively work to undermine our God-given freedoms that are enshrined in our Constitution, who are hostile to people of faith and spirituality, who demonize the police but protect criminals at the expense of law-abiding Americans who believe in open borders, who weaponize the national security state to go after their political opponents and above all, who are dragging us ever closer to nuclear war.
If I'm not mistaken, that makes her the first politician to publicly acknowledge this phenomenon.

            • This from the NYT on The Chairman's general disregard for the truth:

Standing in front of Floridians who had lost everything during Hurricane Ian, President Biden on Wednesday recalled his own house being nearly destroyed 15 years ago: “We didn’t lose our whole home, but lightning struck and we lost an awful lot of it,” he said.

Mr. Biden has mentioned the incident before, once saying that he knows what it’s like “having had a house burn down with my wife in it.”

In fact, news reports at the time called it little more than “a small fire that was contained to the kitchen” and quoted the local Delaware fire chief as saying “the fire was under control in 20 minutes.”

The story is not an isolated example of embellishment.

The exaggerated biography that Mr. Biden tells includes having been a fierce civil rights activist who was repeatedly arrested. He has claimed to have been an award-winning student who earned three degrees. And last week, speaking on the hurricane-devastated island of Puerto Rico, he said he had been “raised in the Puerto Rican community at home, politically.”

For more than four decades, Mr. Biden has embraced storytelling as a way of connecting with his audience, often emphasizing the truth of his account by adding, “Not a joke!” in the middle of a story. But Mr. Biden’s folksiness can veer into folklore, with dates that don’t quite add up and details that are exaggerated or wrong, the factual edges shaved off to make them more powerful for audiences.
You can tell how much it pains the NYT to write this and you can obviously tell that they use almost every conceivable way to describe The Chairman's dislike of the truth -- "the factual edges shaved off" -- other than call it what it is...habitual lying.

Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?
              Brady Hoke: You know.....not....good.

Ha! She's parroting every trumper that ever campaigned.

Jesus. She's a delusional nut job.

                    • I don't think she's nuts. I think she's a fairly calculated opportunist and contrarian. Speak out against the "conventional wisdom" no matter what it is. With most of them it's a schtick for mediocre people to stand out from the crowd. And it's a guaranteed way for her to get regular Fox appearances for a long time. No coincidence she also announced she's starting a podcast (today!) AND a substack which you can subscribe to for just $70 annually.

Exiling yourself from political office doesn't seem like a glorious opportunity to me. That is essentially what she has done. She has little if any hope now of ever getting elected to anything again. If she were an opportunist, I think that she would be angling for the 2024 Democrat nomination.

I guess maybe she could have a TV career. I don't know. She hasn't renounced any of her positions, to the best of my knowledge.

                              • I mean she could continue being Hawaii's Rep for about as long as she wants (possibly) or give herself a bunch of exposure running a pointless Presidential campaign and transition into tv. Jason Chaffetz and Trey Gowdy were both more powerful members of Congress than she ever was and both quit to become media people, more or less.
