      They are afraid that:
      • People will form a negative emotional response, and that will inoculate them against future tugs on their emotional heart strings that come from the other direction.
      • People will start to notice patterns and do a little bit more digging into statistics about violent crime. Especially interracial violent crime. They can’t pick your pocket when their White Guilt propaganda doesn’t work.

As a smallish aside, this likely means another round of insufferable Meghan Markle shit.

                        • One of the things contributing to the decline of the Republican party as the party of conservatism - and all that implies - is the promption of whacko conspiracy theories like this by persons like Flynn who are thought to be strong conservatives. Flynn is but he is, IMO, an extremist associated with the extreme conservative right. Trump is not smart enough to think through and implement a plan like this theory advances. He and his camp of supporters ginned this up after the fact.

There is an AP report on an NPR Front Line expose piece published today on Michael Flynn, former Army LtGen and Trump's National Security Advisor (until he ran afoul of the law and Trump preemptively pardoned him). He is leading an enlarging cadre of Nationalist Christians in a whistle stop campaign spouting Nationalist conspiracy theories with strong evangelical christian undertones effective in recuriting followers of the extreme Christian right. Recall that Flynn was subpoenaed by the January 6th Congressional Panel. He comlied and appeared and on multiple questions involving his involvement in 1/6 or whether he would characterize the attendant movement as an insurrection, a movement that he allegedly was heavily involved in organizing, took the 5th.

The article details the grass roots support for candidates, at the state and local level who support Flynn and his movement, are election deniers and are getting elected into postions where they will have the ability to thwart what is otherwise a legal and well regulated voter retistration and voting process if they don't like the result from the will of the voters. This bodes ill for free elections in America.

It's a ponderously long article that is probably better digested on NPR's Front Line series broadcast on PBS. What is disturbing to me is the characterization in the expose of the scope, size and effectiveness of the movement. Speaking points at these rallies are heavy into voter fraud, Trump was robbed of the presidency, stop the steal and all the 2020 election shit that won't go away. It is being megaphoned into fact without evidence that it is to the sheeple who get persuaded into believing what is being spouted from the bully-pulpit by what many consider an honorable man.

It's linked below from NPR if you want to wade though it but it makes me a believer in the liklihood that we're going to see violence and disruptions to voting, along with claims that whoever is elected, unless it is a candidate endorsed by this whacko - no longer a fringe group - was voted into office illegally.

An investigation by The Associated Press and the PBS series "Frontline" finds that Flynn has been building a political movement mixing conspiracy theory with Christian nationalist ideas.
Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.

He should have made backup copies and kept them in a more secure location than a closet floor.

                              • NPR isn't exactly without bias either..

Well, they're not complete garbage like Rolling Stone, but taking one look at their listeners tells you all that you need to know about which angle they are coming from.

Yes, that's weak sauce. I'll bring better to the game on Saturday.
