Ukraine's MOD is reporting that it's forces targeted and took out the Wagner Group HQ in Popansa today. The Wagner Group are mercenaries. Although the Kremlin denies this, they are supported by Russia, operating in and around the Donbas and with DNR, LNR and Russian forces. There are thought to be about 2000-3000 active fighters, most of them combat skilled, and the units that comprise them are frequently sent into battle ahead of Russian Army BTGs.
There's speculation that the head of the Wagner Group was killed in the attack which was thought to be carried out by HIMAR's assets after the HQ location was reveled in a photograph of a Wagner Group photo-op with a street name and address on it published on line by a pro-Russian journalist.
The successful attack on the Wagner Group HQ, if the killing of it's leader is accurate, is both a symbolic and strategically significant event. Ukraine, as I have posted previously, isn't trying to directly confront occupiers and win big battles but rather to impede progress of Russian forces and sow doubt among soldiers and commanders that they can succeed in their Putin directed missions.Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. Technology - In the 1960s, I didn't have a cellphone, a play station, or a laptop. I had to go outside, explore in the woods, go fishing, build tree forts, ride bikes to the next town over, and visit friends from school.
Parents - Wouldn't let us stay inside and watch TV / play video games all day. Would send us out at 9am, tell us meals were at 12 and 6, and be home before dark. If the weather was bad, we built car or plane models, played with tinkertoys, lincoln logs or erector sets and spent time reading - comic books or paperbacks, didn't matter so long as we read.
Rightwing nutjobs - "Family value conservatives" snatching and molesting children. Gun freaks shooting up schools, churches, and grocery stores. MAGA types leading by example - its okay spread known lies and preach hate against anyone who laughs at the lies. Its okay advocate violence ("lock and load!", "civil war is here!", "kill dem libruls!") when known criminals have their houses legally searched. Kids kept under lock and key because of the fruitcakes.
