I think Miller Lite is a distant third. Natty vs Bud Light is all about income. College kids-Natty. Corporate lawyers-Bud. ;)

That surprises me. In LA, very few people drank Miller Lite.

And yes, Crown when they are feeling "upscale"

I also think Jack is the #1 choice when ordered at a bar and tailgates/parties have more Jim Beam because it is so much cheaper.

Now THAT is a passing good recommendation when watching soccer or CSPAN.

                          • Ukraine: Lots of differing reports in the media space the last two days about the geopolitics surrounding the Russian invasion of Ukraine, e.g. how various countries are responding after day 100 of Putin's war. There is a continuum of camps with the "justice" camp on one end and the "peace" camp on the other. The most outspoken EU members in the former camp are Latvia and Estonia with Poland not far behind. These countries advance the "justice" notion that to let Putin win in Ukraine will return the world to multi-power geopolitics and constant aggression by more powerful nations militarily and politically attacking weaker ones. The US is pretty clearly in the "justice" camp, France is straddling the two camps, Germany seems to leaning to the "peace" camp but there are conflicting statements made by their Chancellor. And that's how it goes.

Beyond the geopolitical ebb and flow of events, the drift on the reporting of the military situation is, today, leaning toward Ukraine. While the Russians are throwing just about everything they have at what the CRT I follow calls a city in the Luhansk Oblast, still held by Ukraine, that if it falls is of absolutely no strategic importance to Putin's war aims. That city is Severodonetsk. To take this city from the Ukrainians, the Russian army has redeployed forces from other areas they gained control of since 2/24/22. Around Severdonetsk and adjoining villages and towns and against fierce Ukrainian resolve that is far superior to that of the the Russian Army, Putin is loosing large amounts of personnel being killed or wounded and equipment being destroyed or put out of action out of proportion to tactical or strategic gains either already obtained or attempts being made to obtain them. Worse for the Russians by redeploying forces to take Severdonets, they have left other areas weakly defended where Ukrainian forces may be able to exploit with counteroffensives. Such is underway in the Mykolaiv and Zaphoresia Oblasts - the city of Mykolaiv and Kherson respectively - gateways to Odesa and the Crimea in the form of a strategically important land bridge that Putin wants to establish and really has not fully done so.

An article written by an Economist journalist described an interview of a civilian Ukrainian nationalist who recently fled Kherson with his family as the Russians had identified him as a provocateur and protester against the Russian occupation of Kherson. The interview revealed a level of disinterest in their mission among Russian occupiers, disarray in Russian attempts to establish government and civil functions under Russian administration and Russian soldiers who looked dirty, tired, poorly trained and equipped. Kherson is without pharmacies and adequate medical support for residents, grocery stores and shops are closed, typical city provided services are non-existent as the occupiers have completely failed to provide them. Previously persistent rumors of the Russian occupiers low troop morale and officer level discontent and/or disillusionment were turned into facts in this interview specifically about Kherson - one of the early cities to be taken and occupied by the Russians. I've commented on the general sense that Russian occupying forces aren't carrying out the occupation that Putin intends very well. It's a big problem. Bigger than my generalized comments about it as suggestions of problems for the occupiers trying to administer areas they have claimed is under Russian control emerged.

My take is that Putin is soon going to be trying to find a way forward to a negotiated settlement not necessarily on terms he may have thought he might obtain in the time leading up to his invasion. If the Frogs in the person of French President Macron have one thing to say that I agree with, it is that the west does not need to humiliate Putin. It needs coexist with him and to redirect him to a suitable off-ramp for his failed Imperialistic adventurism in Ukraine. I also favor a rational mix in Macron's approach with Latvia's and Estonia's official positions of refusing to tolerate Putin's disregard for human life, his lies and his world view of returning Russia to it's Union of Soviet Socialist Republics roots. In the west's pursuit of peace it cannot be intimidated by Purin's words and threats. I favor forcing Russia's withdrawal back to it's legal boarders from it's occupation of the formerly Ukrainian controlled Oblasts of Luhansk and Donetsk post 2014. Militarily by supporting Ukrainian armed forces if necessary. Even Zelenski admits there is no path forward to a military victory that cedes Crimea back to Ukraine but forcing the Russians out of areas it recently "annexed" post 2014 and returning those areas to Ukrainian control is definitely achievable either militarily or diplomatically, the later preferred the former being clearly and demonstrably on the table if Putin continues to be a dick.
