However, there are significant partisan differences, with the vast majority of Democrats (88%) and less than half of Republicans (40%) in favor of state or local mask mandates.
haha, well look what that poll found
Almost all democrats and less than half of republicans, it's clear who the sheep are.
I don't agree with the State taking away local control. I definitely agree with not implementing a statewide mask mandate, but I disagree with what Florida has done. If there's overwhelming support for a mask mandate in the school district then that community ought to be able to implement.
I made precisely the same argument when States were implementing one-size-fits-all shutdown policies instead of allowing communities to figure out what best serves them.
Government closest to the people is the best.
I agree, it should be up to the local school districts, who are directly accountable to the parents in that community. Period.
Like when Clio says they will not require masks, and the County came in and overrode the elected school board. That is just as wrong as saying they are not allowed to require mask mandates at all.

Sure, fine. You're no sheep I guess. But you ARE part of the experiment. You're the control group.
Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach, and Hillsborough counties are all openly defying DeSantis now and passed mask mandates in schools. 4 largest counties in the state.
Here's a good piece on vaccine data coming out of Israel that is being used by anti-vaxxers to claim the vaccines don't work. This article refutes that and explains how, on the contrary, the data show they are very effective at preventing serious illness once you separate by age group.
A surge involving the rapidly-transmitting Delta variant in heavily vaccinated countries has led to much hand-wringing that the vaccines are not effective against Delta, or vaccine effectivenss wanes after 4-6 months. This has fueled anti-vaccine sentiment suggesting the vaccines are not working, and causing much stress in vaccinated people that they are not as protected as they thought they would be.In this post, I will focus on vaccine effectiveness vs. severe disease/hospitalization, which i

Looks like a good study. It would be nice if the emphasis on age were extended to other debates as well, so that we wouldn't be talking about utterly retarded ideas like having children wear masks in schools.
Gentle reminder -- if you are forced to show proof of vaccination or wear a mask somewhere in public, it is to protect adults (mostly above the age of 70) who have voluntarily chosen not to be vaccinated. And in the case of masks, there is a lot of data that says that it offers no protection.
Masks don't work. Or at the very least, mask mandates don't work. In Global Warming Parlance, "The Science is Settled".
Edit -- I misspoke when I associated vaccines with the protection of others, now that we have established that the vaccine reduces or eliminates your symptoms but allows you to still spread the disease.

"While it’s certainly convenient to depict the shock and miscalculation U.S. officials claim over Afghanistan’s tragic, rapid fall to the Taliban as an intelligence failure, the reality is far worse."
U.S. policy makers were also cautioned that the broad coalition of Afghan politicians, warlords and military leaders across the country benefiting from the money and power that came with a sustained U.S. presence were likely to lose confidence and hedge their bets were U.S. military forces and intelligence personnel to withdraw. Further, that President Ashraf Ghani’s stubborn resistance to the Afghan political practice of buying support and his dismantling of the warlords’ private armies would weaken their incentives to support the government. Switching sides for a better deal or to fight another day is a hallmark of Afghan history. And U.S. policy to impose an American blueprint for a strong central government and integrated national army served only to enable Ghani’s disastrous and uncompromising stewardship.
...Initially, even a “Kabul only” option included the retention of the sprawling U.S. Bagram Air Base and other intelligence facilities in the greater capital area through which the United States could project force, maintain essential logistical, intelligence and medical support to Afghan operated bases, and retain some technical intelligence collection and counterterrorist capability across the country. But without any U.S. military and intelligence presence beyond the Embassy in Kabul, faced with a Taliban military and propaganda offensive, and undermined by Ghani’s fractious relationship with his own national political partners, the intelligence community warned the government could dissolve in days. And so it went.
I'm concerned that any remaining Americans are going to be pawns or even hostages used by the Taliban in the future to gain concessions from the US. "We'll release another 1,000 of your citizens if you'll give us spare parts for the Apache helicopters you left behind".
Pallets of cash comes to mind. Not sure why........
