I’m pretty sure almost everyone here has. My issue with the nonsense that California is doing is that they’re adding a burden to vaccinated people in order to mitigate risk for the unvaccinated. We have to realize that there is a substantial number of people that, for whatever reasons, will not get the shot. Period. End of story.

So how long are the rest of us supposed to alter our lives for them? My preference is not one more goddamn second. They have the freedom to not vax and I have the freedom to go about my business as usual.

Here's the thing. There's a huge difference in the entire pandemic response between government officials with the power to make policy illuminated by Governors like Ron DeSantis for example and Gavin Newsom. We have to deal with that.

Like Talent, I really don't give two shits if people choose to not get vaxed. They can be the reservoir of SARS2 and carry the burdens of COVID. They're free to take that path dragging this thing out until we reach herd immunity.....and we will but it's going to take longer than it could.

Meanwhile, fucksticks like Newsom and about a dozen other Governors, will restrict our freedoms, mostly unconstitutionally, in the name of declared PHEs. I'm glad I live in FL but travel restrictions are coming back. I'm sure of that. Hopefully restraint will prevail but I'm not at all confident it will.

Gretch lost her authority yesterday to declare an unlimited state of emergency. The petition to unlock Michigan was certified by the state board of canvassers, and sent to the legislature, where they approved the voter's request to eliminate the law that gave Whitmer her dictatorial powers. The law was declared unconstitutional by the Michigan Supreme Court, but the ballot initiative totally removes it from the books so that a future more liberal court can't reverse the decision and reinstate it. Gretch can't veto the bill that removed the law, because it was voter initiated. That is one law we have here that I like a lot. Voters can ultimately overrule an out of control Governor.

Meanwhile our local hospital reported yesterday that for the first time since April of 2020, they had NO patients in the hospital for Covid. Our county of 68K people has about 20 active cases.

But he'd be fine with mandatory showing of your vax certification in order to enter his place of business.

And actually, Mr VT's suggestion would require both. The vax certification doesn't have a photo on it, so his demand would require both the vax certification AND a picture ID to enter his place of business.

Looking for a post where I was opposed to ID. Can't find it. I have said that we should be making it easier to vote in this country, not harder. I know that goes against when the right believes.

ID is not the biggest issue with these ridiculous Republican voter suppression laws, but it is a great right wing talking point.

How about we require everyone to have a government ID and require it to be carried at all times and shown on demand, you need to have it to vote, and the government pays for it? That sounds like something you would back.
