  • Regarding Trump meeting with Kim Jong Un. I also think it was worth a shot. The odds were always going to be against a positive result, but I don't blame Trump for trying to shake something loose. He didn't make any damaging concessions to the DPRK. He held firm on them ending their nuclear weapons program, and he tried to get Kim to see that the economic benefits to his country in exchange for abandoning nukes would actually help his rule. While I don't like the idea of propping up that nimrod, if there was a way to separate him from a nuclear button, then I'm for it. We have to remember that Kim Jong Un is mentally retarded. I mean that 100% seriously. He's mentally retarded. Mental retardation runs in their family. His dad and grandpa were mentally retarded. Trump was dealing with a mentally ill man. (yes, I know .. I'll save you the trouble Strangelove, CGVT, Stan .. .. Trump is the same way .... got it)

Trump didn't get rocket man to abandon his nukes, but again, I agree with Geezer. It was worth a try. I don't think Chairman Joe would have fared any better. Kim wouldn't fly on a plane, and Joe wouldn't come out of his basement.

I would vote for DeSantis over Trump. Those are my 2 choices.

        • California, much like Chairman Joe, has a big problem(s) with an obvious solution. In this case, it's water supply. The obvious solution would be to, you know, build additional water infrastructure -- like, say, reservoirs. It's be a staggering 40 years since large-scale water infrastructure was built. Demand, of course, has increased drastically. So, when the droughts come, well...

          It's comically fucking stupid.

Now all they need to do is tie the needed reservoir to free day care. That should get 100% of the Dems on board.

Nahhh. Mean tweets are the worst. Fortunately our country is laser-like focused on the things that matter.

Water is bad for the environment. Leaving California for Michigan is one of the smartest things I ever did.

                • Any water shortage will just be used as more impetus for more AGW carbon footprint type legislation. Don't you guys know that California was a lush rain forest before the industrial era?

                  • Speaking on inflation, the CPI jumped 2.1% in April. Not an annualized 2.1% rate -- but 2.1% in one month. Extrapolated out to a year, that's 28%, in case you were wondering.

Me too. DeSantis is the only candidate who would be both palatable and effective. There's nobody else on the radar. It's his nomination if he wants it. I'm pretty sure that he'd beat Trump.

                        • The average national price of gas in Jan 2020 was about $2.66. It did dip as low as $1.80 that April...when all flights were grounded and no one was driving anywhere.

Otherwise at no point in Trump's Presidency was the avg price of gas ever below $2 and was usually above $2.50. The entire summer of 2018 it was between $2.90 and $3.00, very similar to where it is right now.

                          • Chairman Joe is responsible for a number of issues. Gas prices isn't one of them. That's happenstance at the moment -- now, a year or two from now, maybe not.

I'm glad that your sense of humor is still in tact.

However, as a R party issue, they are irreparably divided. There is no "big tent" for them..
There is a huge tent for the Rs. There is a very popular agenda that involves telling BLM to piss off, enforcing our country's borders, ending drag queen story hour, not printing money like the Weimar Republic, avoiding stupid foreign wars, cracking down on voter fraud, and reversing the Left's lunatic cultural revolution. The Rs are only truly divided in accepting how dire the situation is. Once you accept that these are problems that need a desperate fix, then the uselessness of polite airheads like Marco Rubio becomes obvious, and decorum takes low priority. Most Rs also do not realize that these are, indeed, popular ideas and policies since the opposition controls pretty much all of social media and most of the traditional media as well.

I’m probably among this group, too. It’s also amazing what children and a mortgage will do to your awareness of various public policies.
