    • The number of kids being held by Border Patrol has fallen sharply since late March. The majority (about 22,000) are now being held in ORR facilities which are basically refugee camps.

So it's still a big problem but the vast majority are in better living conditions now, at least.

Thousands of migrant children were in US border custody in a surge of arrivals to the US-Mexico border.

      • Large tent-like facilities resembling refugee camps. I like it! Thank goodness there is no longer a border crisis.

        • There is no longer a border crisis because there is no longer a border. ICE has been de facto abolished. I posted a story to that effect maybe a week or two ago. The kook Left is in charge of the country.

            • Nearly 19,000 migrant children who were not accompanied by their legal guardian entered the US in March. The figure represents the largest monthly tally in US history. The latest figures, for April, have yet to be released.

The previous monthly record of 12,000 migrant children was recorded in May 2019 under President Trump.

In February, around 9,500 children found crossing the border were detained by American officials.

More than 100,000 people in total were stopped from trying to cross into the US in February. About 170,000 people were stopped in March

I literally said it's a big problem. If you care about the living conditions of the kids, as liney was kinda saying he does, then the ORR camps are better than the CBP cages.

Maybe there's some middle ground between this being the greatest disaster in US history with no end in sight and "no problem at all let em all come over". Are the numbers arriving still rising? Are things any more under control now than two months ago?

And just to tie this off -- the number of kids being held was twice anything PDJT did and that number also dropped off precipitously. But, you know, KIDS IN CAGES!!!!! Who knows -- maybe we'd be hearing those stories if Chairman Joe hadn't gagged The Media on the issue.

                  Farcical.

                  • "Large tent-like facilities resembling refugee camps" was a commentary on how the media might phrase these facilities rather than prisons and the like.

But the numbers are the numbers. The situation at the border immediately devolved into a shitshow as soon as the new administration took over. It's almost as if the folks in Central America were paying attention to the Democratic primaries last year with specific regard to immigration policy. Nobody can say with a straight face that the way the same exact issue has been reported from the previous administration to this one has been on the up and up. It's absurd. Most of the media are full blown liberal activists now.

                    • Re: Covid-19. The pandemic is, for all intents and purposes, over. Vaccines are delivered. Cases and deaths are approaching pre-lockdown lows. From everything that I have seen, the vaccines have been highly effective and breakthrough cases are borderline nonexistent. At this point, the only people catching Covid-19 are people who elected to stay unvaccinated and children, for whom the virus is literally (and statistically) less harmful than the seasonal flu. Yet nobody other than a small handful of Republican governors has fully reopened their state or done away with mask mandates (which all data shows didn't work anyways). Because "reasons".

President Joe Biden is entering the next phase of his administration with the steady approval of a majority of Americans.

Yup. They know who their sugar daddies are. They started up those caravans en masse the second the votes were counted. And they weren't wrong. Border crossings are way up, deportations are way down. We live in an open borders society and the next step is amnesty for everyone (and along with it, welfare checks and voting rights to secure themselves more welfare checks).

Is that another one of those approval polls where the sample is D+15?

Amazing what giving out trillions of dollars of free money can buy you. Will be interesting to see what people think after the free money runs out, they go back to work only to realize gas is twice as much as they remember and inflation is through the roof.

                              • It helps to have the media on your side too. Biden gets to take full credit for the vaccine that was developed under the previous president and he never has to answer a challenging question.
