Today, March 10th, FL reported the lowest death toll in 3 months. Positivity rate for the entire state is hovering right at 5%. Broward County's % + is paralleleing that of the state's ...... but spring break? Party goers in bars unmasked ..... gasp? NADA.
Few are willing to connect the dots. Desantis does it on occasions. His critics no way. All-out push to vaccinate LTC residents and staff (96%), over 65s (43%), over 60 plus over 50 with high risk medical conditions, just got started on the 9th, teachers and school staff over 50, just got started on the 7th, overall, about 10% of FL's 4 Million residents have been vaccinated ......... What this SHOULD mean: (1) the vaccine is reducing deaths, hospitalizations and transmission. (2) Combined with the success of places like the UK, UAE and Israel, you have to be an idiot to question that or say more study is necessary and yet ..... the CDC waffles.
Meanwhile the UK who is having similar success, if not a bit better, than the US, Boris implemented lock-downs for 2w, is relaxing travel restrictions in the country to include opening cruise ports to ferries and cruise ships on April 17th. The US CDC continues to bar cruise ship operations from all US ports and Canada won't allow cruise ships to transit Vancouver or Victoria Island, crucial to Alaska's cruise ship tourism. Alaska's R Rep. Murkowski got a bill out of committee today prohibiting Treasury from fining ships not in compliance with the Jones Act. That's an 1886 law that says foreign flagged vessels cannot sail point to point between US ports without stopping in a foreign port. If passed, and it might now, since it made it's way out of committee, and if the CDC unlocks American cruise ports, Alaskan cruise tourism can restart. It is a huge part of Alaska's economy which has been brought to a halt due to the CDC & it's increasingly unviable restrictions on travel. Same for FL and Texas.
The bill has the potential of shining a light on the CDC's No-Sail-Order that went into affect in March, 2020 and has caused billions in losses to the cruise industry and not a whole lot less to Alaska's and Florida's tourism economy. It is discriminatory, not based on science or reflective of layered mitigation measures that the cruise industry has designed and submitted to the CDC to allow ships to sail safely with passengers in the COVID environment. The CDC has yet to publicly acknowledge that the are in receipt of and studying the proposals. It's so crystal clear that DeSantis got it right and Cuomo and Whitmer were so wrong. I mean sooooo wrong. Forcing LTC/Nursing home facilities to take Covid patients is an absolute disaster, and it was was an obvious disaster to anyone with a brain. The fact that Whitmer kept her order in place long after even Cuomo realized that he fucked up is seriously disqualifying.
And, yet, The Media went after DeSantis. They owe him a ginormous fucking apology for their preposterously awful propaganda. I'd ordinarily say that it helps clear-minded people to see what's really going on with The Media, but the mountain of evidence is already there. Pointing out the DeSantis/Cuomo/Whitmer comparison is sort of liking giving the ball to Dobbins with 3 minutes to play up by 28 in AA. It's excessive.Dan Patrick: What was your reaction to [Urban Meyer being hired]?

I made the comments about throttling Alaska tourism and the cruise industry out of a selfish desire to get back to cruising. We've been "clean" since March 13th, 2020 when we got off our last cruise before the lock-down precipitated by the CDC's No-Sail-Order. It is a microcosm of how fucked up our public health policy has been for a year on several levels.
Obviously, the US Government, through the CDC, has crushed the cruise industry. The numbers are staggering. That most of the major lines are still operating is a miracle. The amount of debt these companies, previously rolling in cash, have assumed to stay afloat is about as amazing as that they are still sailing around waiting for US ports to re-open. It just astounds me this discriminatory practice has not led to law suits and I've criticized cruise executives for not doing that. Ostensibly they don't want to piss-off the CDC and upset the negotiations that they keep reporting are on-going. What negotiations? Fuck the CDC for it's idiocy and the cruise companies for being pussies.
I know some of you here scoff at my complaints about what the CDC has done to the cruise industry. After-all you've been led to believe that cruising is dangerous, spreads disease and should be curtailed. You'd be wrong that cruise ships are petri dishes for sickness. They aren't but I doubt many of you would be convinced. You've been brainwashed by the press on what is mostly inconsequential to everyone except a small number of cruising enthusiasts like me. You'd be wrong again. Cruise ship tourism provides a boat load of good paying jobs in foreign countries where making $100 bucks a year is good. And don't get me started on labor abuse. That argument went out in the 80s. The typical staff level employee on a cruise ship makes over $40K USD/year, gets free travel to and from his place of residence, has health benefits and more PTO than any, and I mean any, American worker gets. Its contribution to the global economy is in the 2-3% range. Officers pull down easily over $100K, Department heats up to $250K and Captains are making $400K for running what amounts to a highly complex floating hotel, bar and casino with 3 - 6000 guests, thousands of employees and amusements and entertainment you might find at Disney's parks.
Cruising is a congregate setting as Fauci has named it and, you know, it's bad to be in those. But there are all kinds of ways why such venues, including concerts and sporting events can't be rendered safe - not zero risk, but nothing is. The SEC has figured it out, right? Even Warde was quoted as saying on Monday, "we're planning on fans this fall." Fine. I'll bet it will be somewhere around 10K just to say they did it. Of course all the BT presidents will be involved in this. Right again. Herding cats comes to mind as well as the pussification that's required before you assume the august posion of BT U Pres. The lack of leadership among this crowd when it has come to COVID is stunning. Whatever. I doubt we'll see many fans in the Big House this fall. Deciders will figure out how to screw it up.Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. how does cuomo survive
New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo is already under fire for his administration's handling of nursing home death numbers
seems to be a strategy by the cartels now of flooding certain places with kids then sneaking in unguarded sections with mules and drugs.
nancy can have her wall
riogrande/southern az cannot
lots of covid cases headed to az and tx
course it will be the opening up of the economy that gets the blame for the rise border towns are getting in covid numbers

Again, if anything, its a brilliant political move on her part.
I find it hard to believe all of you highly intelligent liberal voters couldn't see that coming, and simply dismiss it as "conspiracy theory". All I am is a stupid retired truck driver from cowtown Michigan, and I saw it coming months ago. Lets talk again after Kamala is sworn in later this year.

FTR, and once again... I don't believe Kamala's attachment to Joe's coattails is or was a "conspiracy theory".
It was, and is, a brilliant political move on her part. She saw the opportunity, and grabbed the brass ring. Bully for her.
The voters didn't care. "We hate Trump more than we care about KamalaJoe being President". To the tune of 80 million voters, .. or so I'm told.
The problem comes when she's sworn in."in order to lead America you must love America"
