  • well trumps gonna wind up with 68 million votes and if it wasn't for covid i think he gets reelected so he isn't going away
for Many of my democratic friends his attitude about what covid was and the whole not wearing a mask and superspreador events were up top in why they voted for biden. i never thought bidens basement strategy would work. they say there are shy trump voters--this is the first day i saw biden hats and bumperstickers in tucson which voted 60% biden as a county. tens of thousands for trump rallies in this state. tens for biden harris rallies

i hope trump throws full support to tom cotton or josh hawley over rubio or cruise i think theres a better chance

personally id go for cotton--army captain harvard law grad

censorship of opposing ideas by big tech is the one thing i worry about. i really don't care who won but when you start banning the opposition for what looks like purely partisan reasons and your a platform that can't be sued--well we get a public that doesnt here both sides of the story.

i think cotton and hawley are two of the rising stars

don't know enough about noem other then she makes me want to visit the badlands

but overall it was a good night for red and the country in general see what happens in the runoff in georgia but ought to get 1 if not both of those senate seats. bring on 2022 love to see Pelosi and schiff shown the door after 4 years of bull shit from the house

    • Meadows has covid. Has probably spread it to a bunch of other people in the WH and Trump campaign given that he rarely wears a mask.

Bloomberg reporter says at minimum four other White House aides have it. Meadows was at the White Hiuse election night “party”

      • Election Night at the White House. Meadows tested positive the next day and kept it secret till late friday night.

Seems appropriate that this administration would go out with another nice spreader event.

              • The overwhelming Trump victory in FL - especially in the S. FL county of Miami Dade - has FL D's wondering what went wrong. Apparently there are some structural problems at the state D level that involve how campaigning and fund raising are managed. Fine, Open your fucking eyes people. that's not the problem. Of 6 interviews conducted by the Sun Sentinel on this subject only one D got it right: D's in FL hoping to woo the Hispanic vote - and this means all of it to include Cubans, Central and South Americans - D's have to recognize that this cohort is highly conservative. Embracing the left's agenda of Medicare for All and Defund the Police are killers. Well, no shit.

South Florida is simply a microcosm of conservative Americans nation wide who aren't buying the socialist agenda of progressives in the House....... and here's proof of Talents' and Hannibal's concerns about anyone who champions this is going to be labeled a racist:

On Thursday, House D's held a phone caucus to assess the damage the election had done to the chamber. One of the loudest complainers when several D's said the D party needs to lessen progressive messaging, e.g., anti-fracking, defund the police, a Green New Deal that hobbles industry and costs jobs, support for the unsavory aspects of BLM, culture canceling, was Rep. Rashida Tlaib from Detroit. She responded, "I feel like I'm being asked to be quiet ........to be real, it sounds like you are saying to stop pushing for what black folks want. My constituents didn't elect me to be quiet"

Right. You might want to check the large number of blacks living in and around your city who think your progressive crap about embracing the violence of BLM, defunding the police so that peaceful protestors can burn down their neighborhoods and all the silly green/environmental BS that's costing jobs who strongly reject your views.

                • They didn't need Florida to beat your guy Trump. There is always going to be messaging issues after a campaign, what helped juice turnout to beat your champion in Milwaukee, Detroit, Philly and Atlanta might not work in Miami.

                  • Spanberger has legitimate points but it is folly to believe that the democratic establishment can issue a few directives and shut down these messages. Her initial win was in a tough swing state in 2018, a lot of those seats are going to require hard work by those incumbents to keep on getting re-elected.

                    • Can't stress this enough...what Trump's "TV lawyers" are telling Lou Dobbs, and Hannity, and Laura is one thing and what his actual courtroom lawyers are telling judges is something very different.

                      ***********************

A federal motion filed by lawyers for President Donald Trump’s campaign that sought to halt vote counting in Philadelphia has been dismissed as moot.

The Thursday afternoon filing against the city’s election board sought an injunction to halt vote counting over allegations that observers from the Trump campaign had been unfairly barred from parts of the city’s ballot-counting area inside the Pennsylvania Convention Center.

In an evening hearing, U.S. District Judge Paul Diamond said the campaign admitted that its observers had been allowed into the venue but that they had not been given equal access or numbers as Democrats.

The federal judge seemed frustrated at times with arguments from the campaign.

“I’m sorry, then what’s your problem?” said Diamond, a President George W. Bush appointee, after Trump lawyers conceded that observers had been admitted to the facility.

Diamond urged both parties to seek a resolution to the suit by agreeing to a set of mutually satisfactory rules for observation. They ultimately agreed that a fixed number of observers from each campaign — up to sixty — could be admitted.

The suit was dismissed without prejudice.

OK ...... let's unpack your post:

First, if you're talking to me, Trump is not "my guy" or "my champion."

Second, I can embrace, in principal, some, if not most of his policies on boarder security and immigration, all of his China and Iran policies, his deal-making involving Gulf States and Israel, that involving the WHO, the global market place and the WTO, anti-globalization and hihg profile rejection of the progressive/liberal world view, a degree of nationalism and isolationism. In sum, there's a lot I like about what his administration did, but for me that does not overcome his personality deficiencies and his handling of the pandemic..... do I think the dire consequences narrative coming from various federal sources is overblown? I do but Trump's early and continuing dismissal of the threat of the pandemic, the unconscionable lack of preparedness for such an event and his lack of leadership in implementing a top down, federal approach where it was needed (e.g., Logistics, PPE, testing kits) caused too many unnecessary deaths.

It goes without saying that what worked putting Biden/Harris in the lead in the cities you mention didn't work for Hispanics. My central point was that Hispanics, like me, reject the progressive agenda that involves embracing the violence of BLM, culture canceling and defunding the police. The only difference between us is that Hispanics were willing to over-look Trump's clown act, I wasn't. I held my nose and voted for Biden but I also voted for conservative R's every place I had a chance to do that at the federal, state and local level. The only exception to that was my vote for D, Broward Co. Sheriff, Gregory Tony and frankly he's a great cop without a political identity. Most importantly he didn't kneel down before "peaceful" protestors in Fort Lauderdale, he rounded up the few looters and violators that showed up, charged them and sent them to court. There was NO VIOLENCE in Fort Lauderdale associated with racial tensions. Tony had a lot to do with that.

Dems seem unable to stop and think that South Florida is filled with immigrants, both legal and illegal, who have first-hand experience with socialist countries, and THAT'S THE REASON THEY'RE HERE.. INSTEAD OF THERE. People with memories of life in Cuba, Venezuela, and other socialist Latin and South American countries have come here to escape that type of government and the destruction it brings. But that won't stop noodleheads like 'the squad' from trying to ram socialism down the throat of America.

Defunding and eliminating law enforcement is not a winning issue, no matter what BLM says. True reform of police procedures is an issue that rational minded people of all political strata can talk about in a civil manner. But that's not what BLM and Antifa want. They want law enforcement eliminated, and that's not going to fly, even in Kenosha, Chicago and Detroit.

                          • The court cases are all performance art for Mad King Donald, the MAGAs and clowns like Lou Dobbs. Basically giving all those groups some sort of excuse why their savior isn't winning.

There is a good article by Tim Alberta on voter fraud becoming the Loch Ness monster for the GOP. The fight in 2000 actually was over real issues, everything now is based on fiction.

                            • Our county sheriff was re-elected by a 2-1 margin. He was one of the first here in Michigan to defy Gretch's orders to shut down Karl Manke for cutting hair. Our sheriff also refused to pull his deputies off their normal duties to chase down individuals who were not wearing masks. He said he'd rather have his deputies tracking down and arresting real criminals instead.

I'm not sure how clean other counties are here in Michigan, but here we seem to have a lot of problems with Meth houses. Our rural setting seems to attract the dirtbags who manufacture this poison.

The sheriff believes he needs to shut down those places, and arrest the people who run them, rather than running over to Wal-Mart every 10 minutes to arrest some grannie for not wearing a face mask. He's right, and that's why he was re-elected in a landslide.

Of course, you're a very wealthy white guy who voted for Trump therefore some of the policies you reject are of things that have no concern to you. Of course you want them to STFU. Hispanics on a whole went overwhelmingly for Biden/Harris nationwide but not as much in Miami-Dade.

Again this is all very premature, the election is still going on, observations in the first week are very suspect. It could be policies it could be that the Biden campaign did not knock on doors, some of the same messaging you mention was there in 2016 and Hispanics in your area went much heavier for Hillary Clinton. It could be that more voters in the area loved your guy's machismo.

The #1 objective was getting rid of your champion(Donald Trump), sure they wanted the trifecta and it looked like they may get it but your guy got people to the polls. Messaging aside, Donald Trump has shown the GOP that pure meanness and brazen lying about policy is a great way to drive a ton of people to the polls. The democrats could 100 percent vigilant about messaging and still run up against a guy like Trump who will lie about everything and over 70 million will march to the polls.
