After the hanging chads debacle, I think on the tale end of Jeb Bush's governorship in FL then Governor Rick Scott, now FL Senator Rick Scott, cleaned house at problematic county voting HQs. Lots of dead weight - people drawing salaries as Election Superintendents or Supervisors and not doing squat. Broward and Miami-Dade where such places. Scott implemented state wide mandates to insure all counties did things the same way. Since then, voting has gone well. A lack of statewide, uniform processing of votes is probably what's going in in PA.

Nonetheless, Trump is toast and the EC could come out in the low 300s for Biden when all is said and done. That's an ass kicking that on election night wasn't an ass kicking at all. In fact, one had to take note of the level of Trump support and I don't think that changes although the degree of it has to be recalibrated. The loss of D reps in the House favors the view that the core values of Americans remain conservative and not at all embracing the mainstream progressive, left leaning thought of the Ds. Same for the failure of the D's to flip R seats in the Senate. The R majority there forms a bulwark against a Biden/Harris/Pelosi/Schummer legislative agenda that has socialist undertones....... the stock market is loving that.

From what I have read it appears that there is a bit of a crisis as far as sports officials go. More are quitting and fewer are starting to ref/umpire partially because of the abuse that they are getting from parents coaches and fans.

There is a soccer ref that has a facebook page dedicated to it.

FWIW, after my youngest son goes off the college I am seriously considering getting certified and doing AAU basketball tourneys and more junior games to supplement my retirement income . Not sure if I want to be a 62 year old rookie ref, though.

Huge shortage nationwide of high school officials. Definitely in Nebraska as well. Most of the current list of guys here are in their 50's and 60's and few young guys getting into it. When I gave up college officiating I went back and did a few more years on high school and was appalled at how bad sportsmanship was from the fans, coaches, players...horrible. The pay is not great but most guys do it for the love of the game not the money. But when you double the low pay with the abuse and an aging force this is what you get. I now do observations for the state and I see some eastern Nebraska crews routinely doing 2 games on Thursday, Friday and Saturday due to the shortage. They are burning out.

ESPN eliminating 500 jobs, including 300 layoffs

ESPN announced Thursday it is eliminating about 500 jobs worldwide, including about 300 through layoffs.

The cuts amount to about 10% of the employees at the sports network and are due largely to the impact of the pandemic on its business and the “tremendous disruption in how fans consume sports.”

“In the short term, we enacted various steps like executive and talent salary reductions, furloughs and budget cuts, and we implemented innovative operations and production approaches, all in an effort to weather the COVID storm,” Jimmy Pitaro, ESPN’s chairman, wrote in an email to employees. “We have, however, reached an inflection point.”

In addition to the layoffs, the company is planning to leave about 200 vacant positions unfilled.

ESPN did not say how many of the job cuts would come at its Bristol, Connecticut, campus, but said they would not be concentrated in any one area. On-air talent, the vast majority having personal contracts, is not expected to be heavily affected. But some of those contracts could be allowed to expire.

The company said it has more than 5,000 employees, including about 4,000 in Bristol.

The Disney DIS, +1.51% subsidiary has recently been moving toward more direct-to-consumer offerings, including its ESPN+, a streaming service that has grown to about 8.5 million subscribers.

Pitaro said the discussions on how to reposition the company in a changing media landscape predate COVID-19, but said the pandemic had accelerated those discussions.

“Placing resources in support of our direct-to-consumer business strategy, digital, and, of course, continued innovative television experiences, is more critical than ever,” he wrote. “However, building a successful future in a changing world means facing hard choices. Making informed decisions about how and where we need to go – and, as always, in the most efficient way possible — is by far the most challenging job of any leadership team.”

The layoffs come three years after ESPN cut about 250 jobs, including journalists and on-air talent.

My father in law is dead and my mother in law didn't get two absentee ballots. She got one. You have to request two ballots to get two ballots. The guy "threw away" the second one, eh? Let's see proof then that only one out of two William Bradleys voted.

And look, it's not as if this is being conjured from the abyss. An election judge in Philadelphia was just sent to prison for STUFFING THE BALLOT BOX.

The question is always whether it matters. When you win M by over 100,000 votes it's a very tough sell to convince me that whatever fraud occured mattered. I think the same thing about the 20,000 margins in Wisconsin. I don't know what the margins will be in Pennsylvania, but I doubt that it matters. Now, I have almost zero doubt the Ds stole Illinois from Nixon in 1960. But this ain't that.

The same goes for the fucking ridiculous voter suppression shit from the Ds. Maybe a few people are dumbfuck enough to not comply with basic rules, including vast windows of early voting. But it ain't going to matter unless the election is decided by a handful of votes.

In the law, this is materiality. Yeah, you can point to shit that was wrong, but was it material to the outcome. Almost always -- NO.

The local clerk misattributed the ballot to the dead dad instead of the son by mistake. This has all been explained. Between the two only one ballot was ever counted. People mess up. Dead people being remaining on voter rolls is a problem. But not every person listed as being born in 1890 was literally born in 1890. Some of it is data entry errors.

The dead man wasn't just on the voter roll. He got a ballot. So did his son. Somebody made that extra request on purpose. My dead father-in-law didn't get a ballot. Neither did my dead dad. And my dad lived in Wayne County! You have to request a ballot to get a ballot.

Let's see proof then that only one vote was counted and let's find out how two ballots got sent to the house.

This is just one obvious example BTW. God only knows how many others there are of dead men receiving ballots.
