Amazon has started their Black Friday sales and there are some great deals to be had! As you shop this holiday season, please consider using the forum's Amazon.com link (listed in the menu as "Amazon Link") to add items to your cart and purchase them. The forum gets a small commission from every item sold.
Additionally, the forum gets a "bounty" for various offers at Amazon.com. For instance, if you sign up for a 30 day free trial of Amazon Prime, the forum will earn $3. Same if you buy a Prime membership for someone else as a gift! Trying out or purchasing an Audible membership will earn the forum a few bucks. And creating an Amazon Business account will send a $15 commission our way.
If you have an Amazon Echo, you need a free trial of Amazon Music!! We will earn $3 and it's free to you!
Your personal information is completely private, I only get a list of items that were ordered/shipped via the link, no names or locations or anything. Don't have her tests results back yet but RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel has flu-like symptoms so her doctor recommended she be tested and self-quarantine. She was at Mar a Lago last weekend AND she was also at the GOP Senate lunch that took place on Tuesday. In a tightly-packed room with a bunch of elderly GOP Senators and Trump.

Back to some level of seriousness here .......These questions seem to be responsible ones to ask:- Does surveillance, contact tracking and boarder entry denial work to reduce the spread of COVID-19 and how meticulously can it be done.
Yes, it works....... in the scale that it was used successfully in Singapore. Their experience may not be generalizeable to larger nation states. On a nationwide scale required in the US for effective surveillance and tracking to be done such that it has a positive impact on transmission would require a huge investment in human and lab/facility resources. Those resources may be better allocated regionally where hot spots pop up.
The Singapore experience of closing boarders appears to have worked. It does help explain why HHS has advised and Trump ordered closing US boarders. The closings apply to foreign nationals. US citizens who have traveled abroad and are returning to the US will be subject to increased screening and some level of quarantine. This is an example of the US being meticulous. Remains to be seen how effective this policy will be in reducing the instance of new cases.
https://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/volumes/69/...DC_921-DM22175- Does it work to close schools to limit the spread of COVID-19 (and this study can be generalized to include closing or limiting all types of events, gatherings, travel)?
.......such reactive school closures for a moderately transmissible pathogen reduces the cumulative infection rate by about 25% and delays the peak of the epidemic [in that region] by about 2 weeks.
........some don't:
On Proactive closures:
There's a good reason why sports and entertainment events are being cancelled, airlines are reducing or completely eliminating, at least regionally, flights to/from and why the cruise lines have stopped operating for 30d. It works as much as that can be seen as a Proactive closing measure. I also don't think it was too late to undertake those major closings globally or in the US as fucking inconvenient these are to us 1%. I'm pissed my cruise got cancelled. I'll get over it!

Pictures overnight of O'Hare and Dulles airports of mass hordes of people racing to get back into the country and having to go through customs look like a damn nightmare.
