Heh. In addition to going after other candidates, PDJT has been ominously silent on the Marxist, too.
There have been snippets of taped conversations that took place in 2017, Trump said that the only VP candidate that scared him win HRC got the nomination was Sen Sanders. The reason for that is that he was a trade guy ("just like me---he knew we were getting screwed on trade. And he was right. A trade guy like me.") and thought he got like 20% of the Bernie vote. I think President Deals respects Sen Sanders (as much as he respects anybody) because Sen Sanders is an outsider and is able to tap into the anger that working class Americans feel right now. Much like Trump did back in 2016 (and still does to a degree).

While Sen Sanders and President Trump both appeal to working class workers there is a stark contrast between them. And you hear it in their stump speeches/rallies. In a Trump speech you hear a lot of I did this and I did that and only I can do-----. It is about him and that is to be expected given his personality traits. In a Sanders speech, you hear a lot of we are going to do this, with your help we can do this or that, lots of ours. It has more an appeal to our better natures. And that too is to be expected given his personality traits too.

Something to remember is that power/money (if you have it) only makes you more of who you are.

Trump is all over the political spectrum where as Sen Sanders has been for the same things he has always been for throughout his political career. Also, attacks on Sen Sanders doesn't seem to cause harm and instead his base stays with him through thick and thin (much like Trump's base does). Sen Sanders is an existential threat to the establishment Dems much like Trump was to the establishment Republicans (who have proved over and over again they are scared of his base showing up and ousting them out of a cushy job).

    • Just finding a mechanic to work on them is a major problem. You can't just roll up to your favorite mechanic's shop and drop it off and expect him to be able to fix it. It probably won't fit into his garage. All the parts are truck parts, and cost more than car parts. The only way I'd want an RV is if I could somehow use it as part of my job. Otherwise, it'd sit in my driveway and look pretty for months at a time, while I try to save up enough money to take a trip somewhere. Meanwhile, the insurance guy wants his money, and the bank wants their payments, .. all on time.

We very fundamentally disagree on Sanders personally and his politics and certainly his so-called appeal to our "better nature." When Marxists or Marxist technocrats want to take control and regulate basic shit, they always do it under a pretense -- social injustice! income inequality! anti-racism! facts in news! Whatever. We will never, ever agree on the aims of Sanders as noble.

However, the politics is quite interesting.

Also, attacks on Sen Sanders doesn't seem to cause harm and instead his base stays with him through thick and thin (much like Trump's base does).
No one has really gone after Sanders. I have no doubt that Sanders' base is impervious to attacks. He has a core 25-30% of so-called Ds that won't leave him. What I'm not so sure of is whether or not he can withstand the double-barrel Marxist attacks that he so richly deserves -- at least among the voters who will decide the election. Nobody has taken Sanders' consistency to task -- notably, he's ALWAYS anti-American and pro-Communist. Fuck, man, he sympathized with the Iranians in 1979. He embraced Ortega. He loved Castro. He honeymooned in the Soviet Union. He embraced Venezuela. Maybe that's a good thing. Maybe his past will play well with voters that matter. Sitting here today, I think it will not.

Sen Sanders is an existential threat to the establishment Dems much like Trump was to the establishment Republicans (who have proved over and over again they are scared of his base showing up and ousting them out of a cushy job).
Well, I agree with that. I think he's an existential threat to D power. as well. You can't run in a purple district or purple state on a moderate platform when the leader of your party is an avowed, lifetime Marxist and admirer of Communism.

        • Trump's masters are deploying satellite killers, shadowing our KH series assets.....

And the Chinese military is stealing personal and financial data on a massive scale.

U.S. prosecutors charged four members of the Chinese military Monday in connection with a major breach of credit-reporting company Equifax in 2017, which exposed personal data affecting nearly 150 million people.

Avowed Communist sympathizer "Donnie Two Scoops" Trump does nothing about the Russians (no surprise) and has the DOJ indict 4 Chinese that will never be tried in a miserably failed attempt at saving face.

          • I know, I know...impeachment over, stop caring about this. But the details are interesting to me

Newly unredacted emails show the OMB was deceiving the Pentagon, the GAO, and eventually Congress about the hold on Ukraine aid. The Pentagon repeatedly wanted it made clear and on the record that the continued delay would soon make it impossible to spend the aid by Sept. 30 and would therefore be breaking the law.

OMB officials have repeatedly claimed that no one at the Pentagon ever raised these concerns with them. They were lying.

            ************************************

hold violated the Impoundment Control Act, not to mention it was part of a larger pressure campaign to get Ukraine to announce an investigation into former Vice President Joe Biden. When Trump finally lifted the hold on Sept. 11, DoD did everything it could to get the money out the door by Sept. 30, but it was too late to be able to spend all of it. In the end, $35 million of the Ukraine funding lapsed and required new congressional legislation to make it available again.

New unredacted emails confirm that OMB, including the general counsel’s office, was fully in the loop about the Pentagon’s concerns.

I owned the same boat - a 30 foot sailboat - for 40 years. I bought it new when I was assigned to NAS Pensacola in 1974 - fully equipped for around $14k - and sold it just a few years ago for $4.5K. It was in beautiful condition but that came at a huge cost over time. A labor of love as I enjoy both sailing and maintaining - to a point. By my late 60s, holding a 25 pound sander over my head to sand a layer of bottom paint off got tiresome. Two generations - my 4 kids and their kids sailed on it.

I now "own" a 40' sailboat out of Dinner Key Marina in Miami. It's a fractional ownership. I pay a monthly amount for a 6 month season that has 30 am or pm slots I can schedule time within. You can string slots together for up to 6d. Just recently took a 5d trip from Miami to Key Largo and back with my daughter, her husband and their 3 kids. It was a lot of fun.

Hurricane coming? Not my problem. Insurance and slip fees? Payed by someone else. Diesel fuel? Not my problem? Its refilled on the regular. Something breaks, I write it down it gets fixed. Clean up, bottom paint, engine or transmission repairs? Taken care of. I just get on, sail it on Biscayne Bay and then get off.

I love boating but I'll never own another boat.

Yes, I know a couple people who have them. They go down on Friday night and park and get an early start for tailgating/drinking

                    • Yesterday prosecutors formally recommend Roger Stone be given 7 to 9 years in prison

Overnight Trump tweets multiple times this is a miscarriage of justice, how come Hillary's not going to jail, yadda yadda yadda

Just now: the DOJ announces it agrees the sentencing recommendation was far too harsh and it is overruling its own prosecutors and will submit a new recommendation soon

If we've learned anything it's that the Executive has gads of discretion to decide how to seek sentencing, how to prosecute cases, what cases to prosecute and even to completely ignore US law.

Well, anyways, it'll be interesting to see what the new recommendation is, if the prosecutors attach their names to it, and what the Judge has to say. I imagine she will have questions.

                            • We may not particularly like Donald Trump but if he has done anything, he has used the power of the executive like no other modern president. FDR may have been the last president to act in such a way. The amazing thing is that the Congress in it's oversight role of the executive has not been able to effectively limit him on most of his actions that the Congress has had issues with and attempted to do something about it. With the courts throwing out law suits on his business dealings (emoluments) for various reasons, the wall seemingly surviving court challenges, his acquittal re his Ukraine actions among others, you have to admit he's got balls...... and he's playing his hand extremely well in the face of challenges from the left.

Despite the president having virtually nothing to technically do with the astounding growth employment and in equities over the last 3 years, investor sentiment is aligned with what Trump preaches. Even though, on regulatory and tax issues, what he often says he is doing doesn't actually happen or if it does it is entirely different, in law or practice, from what he says would happen. He's a master of bull-shit and that's describing it in terms his enemies would appreciate. His friends might call him a masterful president in terms of what they perceive he has gotten done.

As a statesman, there are plenty of well written articles on foreign policy and world affairs that say his approach has been damaging to the world order; others, OTH, say, in positive language, he's upset a world order that needed upsetting - NATO, Defense, treaties involving the environment along with nuclear deals with Iran and Trade are examples. When you contrast him with the leading D presidential candidates right now, and the one who is likely to head the D ticket in November, Bernie Sanders, for me, it's no contest. Bernie is the guy who wants to dismantle free market capitalism that flourishes in the US and replace it with a socialist state. One has to wonder, is it the time to hold your nose, go with Trump, and tolerate his narcissism, 4th grade level childishness and all the dumb things he says on twitter?

Regardless of where you stand on Donald Trump he's brought about change on important policy most of which, but not all, I agree with. But, he's a jerk. No question. Which brings me to the point. Perceptions over substance are going to play a huge roll in November. Right now, Americans think, in their minds and at home, things are pretty good. They might say the opposite if asked publicly or in a poll and if they let their perceptions that PDJT is an ass-clown play on their judgement. Because of that view, I have a tough time believing polling data, regardless of how well the questions to be asked in those polls are formulated, are a solid indicator of voter sentiment. See HRC getting ass-whaled in 2016 by the guy nobody thought could beat her. Trump is very likely to repeat that scenario with any of the D candidates with more than a zero chance of heading the D presidential ticket.

Mission to CFB's National Championship accomplished. But the shine on the NC Trophy is embarrassingly wearing off. It's M B-Ball ..... or hockey or volley ball or name your college sport favorite time ...... until next year.
