If Bloomberg somehow navigated the Rube Goldberg machine and came out with the nomination at the convention he would do OK in the general election. He has a lot of money and his ads in Michigan right now are pretty good. It would drive Trump crazy, he would know how to deal with Trump. It would have to be a real deadlock for him to get the nomination though. The way he's polling in the states where he is bombarding the ads makes you wonder why he didn't get in earlier. His entrance is killing Biden.

Bloomberg is paying his staff 140k through the rest of the year whether or not he is the nominee. Bloomberg has said (and we will see when the time comes) that he will put ads out against Trump even if he does not get the Dem Nomination.
Nina Sanders is right....Bloomberg really is an American version of an oligarch. Bloomberg's money and Bernie's popularity with working class voters (and this coalition in 2020 is a lot more diverse--he has really been courting the Latino community. Latest polls in SC show him starting to eat into Biden's AA support as well) could be a real lethal combination. Thing with Bernie is that he is policy all the time and has stood by these policies for decades. Whereas President Deals is all about style and very little substance---Bernie is all substance and little style. Though since his heart attack, he does seem like he has loosened up some on the trail. You see some smiles--his sense of humor has come out at times.

The talk about Bernie's politics relative to the rest of the world reminded me, heh, about this interview from last summer with Juan Guiardo, the guy we're trying to install in Venezuela to replace Maduro. He went on Fox to drum up support for his cause and got asked something about AOC but he had never heard of her. Once he looked her up his response to the New Yorker is kind of funny.
