  • We have now entered the "Defend Rudy to ensure his loyalty" portion of the program.

An "internationally recognized expert in fighting corruption"...LOL, ok then. Check out the internationally-recognized expert's performance on Judge Jeanine the other night. Was such a shitshow that even da Judge herself got noticeably uncomfortable.

      • And, of course, the Obstruction of Congress charged remains laughably awful partisan idiocy.

        • When Trump is saying they don't have the evidence, we have the evidence I would say obstruction is well within bounds. Your boys Ken Starr and Bert Kavanaugh were the ones leading the obstruction charges against Clinton, the Clinton administration certainly cooperated more than Trump.

              • The era of unparalleled prosperity is about to begin! The British people shall soon spit on the ground at the very mention of the name Victoria, knowing that today's Britain is far more powerful and influential than under that opium-peddling tart. Finally, Britain will be Britain again!! That's not just an empty, meaningless phrase either!! It is rich with deep meaning and portent!!

                  • John King mentioned it a while ago and this article mentions it too...Republican Senators were hoping to hear some reasons today why they shouldn't call John Bolton, in light of the overnight news, and they just haven't been given anything. I've drifted in and out but after the lecture from Starr on why this impeachment is just to partisan (even some Republicans had to roll their eyes at that) it's been mostly on how the Bidens are awful, corrupt people.

Not entirely the legal team's fault as its plausible they didn't know anything about the manuscript either

Whoever the last guy was...did I hear him wrong or was he really trying to claim that Joe Biden was running a shadow diplomacy when the Prosecutor was fired? Or was he being sarcastic? Same guy said Obama's hot mic moment with Medvedev in 2012 was more impeachable than what Trump did. I mean, at least two Republican Senators (Rob Portman and Ron Johnson) know very well that bullshit about Biden going rogue and firing Shotkin on his own ain't true -- they personally signed a letter calling for it!!

                    • Other fun note: an NPR reporter that was supposed to travel with Pompeo's traveling pool to Europe and Asia was abruptly thrown off the trip. Not the same reporter who ate Pompeo's lunch the other day. Clear retaliation against the whole organization.

                      • Here's Joni Ernst gloating that she'll be watching real close to see if all this dirt on Joe Biden will influence caucus goers back in Iowa. Haha, what a dumbass

Pssst, Joni...you're supposed to be pushing the idea that investigating the Bidens has nothing to do with wanting to hurt him politically!

None of the other Republicans she's standing there with (including Cruz) look terribly enthused or happy about her comment

                            • This is why I say the "Democrats might really fuck this up" take has it backwards. Economic and global conditions suggest this should be a 1964 or 1984 style blowout. Or Bush beating Dukakis by 10 points at least.

I'd probably suggest a majority of Americans think the economy has happened in spite of Trump instead of because of him. That the President really doesn't matter nearly as much as we thought. And if that's the case...why do we need to stick with the ranting jackass who spends half of every day watching tv or golfing?

                              • He is polite about it, But Jonathan Turley says the crux Alan Dershowitz's argument tonight is flat out wrong. Namely that the President must commit a crime in the legal sense to be impeached. Turley, you will recall, was the Republicans only constitutional scholar to testify in the House. He's very much agaisnt the current impeachment. But still he says Dersh is completely wrong. And if you research the consensus view of constitutional lawyers (not defense attorneys like Dersh) you'll see the overwhelming majority agree with Turley.

Below is my column in The Hill newspaper on the Andrew Johnson impeachment trial and its reliance by Harvard Professor Alan Dershowitz to support the argument that impeachable offenses must be base…
