Well, He did chase the moneychangers out of the Temple with a whip, and overturned their tables and telling them they turned His house into a den of thieves. But, when one reads the context of the scriptures, you'll find He did not do so for political reasons.

Jesus was never political. Ever. In spite of all the movies and TV specials put out by Hollywood and their ilk, that claim differently, Jesus was totally non-political.

He never, ever spoke out against the government, or their policies. Ever.

And to take it a step further, neither did His apostles.

Most of what I've heard has been negative. Critic reviews are worse than the last one. And there's some seriously dumb shit in the last one.

SPOILERI will laugh my ass off if Rey is the Emperor's love child or something. And he comes back and literally says "I AM YOUR FATHER!!!" That's about the dumbest way I think they could end this

      • Franklin Graham's response to the editorial by Christianity Today, as a FYI:

        My Response to Christianity Today:
Billy Graham founded Christianity Today; but no, he would not agree with their opinion piece. In fact, he would be very disappointed. I have not previously shared who my father voted for in t...he past election, but because of this article, I feel it is necessary to share it now. My father knew Donald Trump, he believed in Donald Trump, and he voted for Donald Trump. He believed that Donald J. Trump was the man for this hour in history for our nation.

        • And I thought maybe the Disney brand taking over Marvel is what made those movies work and be successful...but no. I think they just got really lucky to have Kevin Feige overseeing that project from the beginning. And I'm not claiming those are all amazing flicks or anything, several are quite average, but compared with the Star Wars franchise they are Kurosawa films.

I wouldn't mix Marxism with "grace, charity, and everyone being equal in the eyes of the Lord". Karl Marx was quite possibly the least charitable, least graceful, least humble, most parasitic, most nihilistic, most hate-filled, and most violence-obsessed man who ever lived.

I don't have much of a dog in this fight since I am not a religious person, but I have noticed in the past 10-15 years a gradual realignment of much of Christianity towards much more Liberal economic and social values. It looks to me like 2,000 year old, small scale personal and spiritual teachings being bastardized and misapplied on the scale of 300-million member nation states with 21st Century economies. I think that I know what Jesus would say that I should do to help out people in my community. I'm not sure if he would have that same opinion though on the large scale parasitic nature of Socialism and the misery that it causes. Then again, I'll defer to the biblical scholars of the world on that one. I do know that if I ever adopt organized religion, I won't be choosing one that insists that I commit some form of altruistic suicide.

I decided not to try and avoid leaks so I just decided to jump in and I don't think that what is in there is better than your spoilered portion.

Have you ever seen footage from that Star Wars Celebration thing they hold annually? There's millions of comic book guys eating this shit up and jizzing in their pants every time they see a light saber battle or an X-Wing. The comic book guys are both the most difficult and the easiest ones to please.

                  • I had a desk at Hollywood Studios for 4 years, when they had their Star Wars weekends in May it was a pain. They took our parking lot to erect this gigantic tent to sell Star Wars paraphernalia. We had to park at a Disney hotel and shuttle in. They made a ton of money on Star Wars gear. It made sense when they bought Lucasfilm later on.

Any of these big franchises are all about fan service. In the case of Star Wars the fan service aspect predates Disney, it goes back nearly 40 years. You can complain about JJ Abrams or any other director, but it really doesn't matter who the director is for these things. If you are expecting some amazing epic with a truly original story you are looking in the wrong place.

                    • The one thing about Disney buying Lucasfilm at the time it felt like 4 billion was extremely cheap, it looks even cheaper in retrospect.

                          • If you can't see how 4 billion was cheap, there's no hope for you.
Disney bought Lucasfilm six years ago in a deal worth $4.05 billion and has already made back that investment with four Star Wars feature films that have grossed more than $4.8 billion at the box office.

                            • When the comic book guys say how badly it has been mismanaged and they are still going to make this kind of bank, it shows you how cheap the buying price was. It isn't even factoring in crap like streaming, the Star Wars property is a flagship to get people to plunk down ducats to get Disney+.
'Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker' on track for $195 Million opening, 'Cats' sinking at the box office.
