  • Buried in the WSJ/NBC poll that came out yesterday is a small sliver that should very much worry Trump.

About 9% of voters disapprove of him overall but approve of his handling of the economy. Among that group, 73% said they will be voting for a Democrat. Only 5% said Trump. The rest undecided. There is a certain demographic that, for them, whatever credit Trump might get for the economy it's overshadowed by everything else.

Also noteworthy: exit polls showed Trump beat Hillary by 27 points among white women w/ no college education. The poll this weekend showed he is underwater with them.

He's a known quantity now. There's no longer room to say "well, he'll start acting different once he's in office, and at least he's not HIllary"

        • Can't really say how much this'll impact their voting patterns but...a lot of people don't actually want politics intruding into their lives on a daily basis. In particular conservatives complain about this quite a bit. "I don't want to hear about politics at a concert" or "Just shut up and play ball".

Well, Trump obliterates all that because he thinks you want to know what's on his mind 24/7. And why not? In his mind he's so obviously the most fascinating man in the room. This probably doesn't bother most of us here very much, since we're presumably interested in talking politics, but Trump's people probably are aware of the fatigue factor. There's got to be a not insignificant number of people that find him exhausting.

          • Then there's this...An internal poll done by the Republican party has moderates raising alarm bells because it showed 3 out 4 women in key suburban districts want stricter gun control laws. Among suburban women it has replaced healthcare as their top priority issue (though that could just be a function of timing).

This puts Republicans in a tight spot but they'll probably end up sticking with their reliable rural voting base and hope that the suburbs come around based entirely on economic happiness.

            • Over the weekend more than 20 local tv stations across the country, all owned by Sinclair Broadcasting, published the exact same "news" story: new hats are now available for purchase at the Trump campaign website.

                  • Well either way the WH has already pushed back on that story and said a payroll tax cut is NOT being considered.

                    • I find arguing politics on a forum kind of lacking. I know I did it for nearly two decades, but it is hard to enjoy now. People talk shit and are assholes to people. I am politically active and talk politics in person, but I grow tired of not being close enough to pop someone in the jaw if they get too jerky.

                          • It would be the same if we talked religion. Thankfully, no one here is terribly fervent.
